iCloud sync option not available in MAC 10.10.1

So I have tried all the tips to get the option to sync with iCloud. It works on IOS 8.1 but not on the Mac. I have reset, rebooted, reinstalled, retried. Please is there some way to get this most useful part of the app to work.
The app never offered the option and it does not appear in the list of syncing apps in the iCloud part to the preferences.
Hints, help, ideas, success stories gratefully received.

    Where and when did you get 1PW for Mac?

    The version bought direct from AgileBits does not support iCloud syncing, due to restrictions imposed by Apple. If you want to use iCloud, you must buy from the Mac App Store.

    If you bought 1PW5 from Agile less than 30 days ago you can get a refund and then buy from the App Store.

    That said, both versions allow syncing via Dropbox and many people are happy to use that rather than iCloud.

    danco is quite correct, where you purchased 1Password can have an impact. It was obviously never our intention to have this difference between the versions but as of iOS 8 and Yosemite Apple are restricting access to the new iCloud frameworks to those applications sold through their stores; the iTunes Store (for iOS apps) and Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) for OS X applications.

    If you purchased from us that sadly means you're now limited to Dropbox or Wi-Fi Sync for syncing between a Mac and an iOS app. Again though, danco is quite correct here. If you purchased 1Password for Mac directly from us in the last 30 days then you can make use of our refund policy and then repurchase 1Password for Apple's MAS. I did check our records for the email address you are using here in the forums but no result was found.

    Do you happen to know where you purchased it from, was it from Apple or directly from our site?

    Yes I bought it directly, Jan 13th. invoice ID: 10798870. I will do as you suggest and apply for the refund and buy from the app store. Thanks for the prompt response.

    That explains it. Let us know if you have any issues setting up iCloud sync once you've transitioned to the Mac App Store version of the app.
