Different Passwords in iOS vs OSX versions?
I have been using 1Password on my Mac for a year or more. Very helpful. If I install on iOS [iPhone & iPad] I would like to use a shorter password there than on my Mac. Keyboard entry of long password esp. with symbols etc is just too much hassle on iOS. Can I have different ones depending on the OS I am using?

That really isn't going to work—partly because once updates to the existing versions of 1P on iOS and Mac are released changes to master passwords are going to synchronise between devices rather better than they do at present. Bear in the mind, too, that the security of your data is protected solely by the strength of your master password so if you compromise that you compromise your security. What's more you compromise that security on devices that are rather easier to steal than a Mac. :)
I suspect the best solution for you is a little tinkering with the security settings in 1P for iOS—so that you can minimise the number of times you're asked for the master password. Have a look at this knowledge base article about those security settings and see if it helps.

@jrhetts you could setup a PIN code on iOS. Then you would only have to enter the PIN (most of the time). When the PIN code is setup, the master password is stored in the phone's keychain, so entering the PIN code will look it up and unlock the vault for you.
Look in the link Stephen_C provided for information on the PIN code. Of course a PIN code is not as secure as a longer password, but you can decide if it's secure enough for your needs.

Thanks Stephen and hayesk. I thought as much, and i do understand the lower security of shorter passwords issue. My core passwords for 1Password and another key security gate are 19 digits. Entering this long a string with numerals, symbols and capital letters is a pain on iOS, so I was looking for a shortcut.

I'm very happy with Touch ID for opening 1Password on my iPhone. It's available if you have iPhone 5s or later or iPad Air 2 and maybe (probably) the latest iPad mini. My iPad doesn't have Touch ID, and I don't mind entering my master password on that nearly as much as on my iPhone.
