Sharing with a Spouse

I have seen a few threads but I am still confused as to the proper process for sharing accounts. I have been using 1password for a long time and my wife has recently tried it and would like to share our licence with me. I purchased it through the App Store so now that her Free Trial has expired I have no licence to give her. How do I allow her to share my licence without her losing all of the logins and information that she has in her current install of 1password on her macbook? My ideal situation is for me to have no own vault, synced through my dropbox, and for her to have her own vault, synced through her dropbox. Any help would be appreciated.

There are two ways to share your Mac license purchased from Apple with your spouse.

One is for both of you to use the same Apple ID for your Mac App Store purchases. Your spouse would login to the Mac App Store with that ID and click on the Purchases tab, where she would download her copy.

The other way, if you are both using OS X (Yosemite) is to set up Family Sharing and have both of you in the same family group. You don't have to have the same Apple ID to share the license, but both of you must use the same credit card for your Apple purchases.

Be sure to follow the process in the 1Password User Guide for moving from the AgileBits web store version to the Mac App Store version on your spouse's Mac.

    Hi @brouwer1,

It's great to hear that your wife is interested in using 1Password! Hawkmoth's given you some great advice with respect to how you can share your existing license of 1Password with your wife.

Since you purchased from the Mac App Store, and your wife is currently using the AgileBits webstore version, you'll need to use our Migrate to the Mac App Store version Guide to ensure that your wife's data is properly updated in the Mac App Store version when you install it.

I hope this gets you all sorted out, but if you have any further questions, we're here to help!
