Restore from iCloud
My hard drive completely failed. As a result I moved to a new mac and now I try to restore 1Password from iCloud. When I select Manage from the iCloud settings, I can see that the backup is there. However after installing 1 password and trying to restore from iCloud, it says I have to enable iCloud drive. This is however enabled... So how do I restore my data?

Would you please confirm for us:
- the version of 1P that you used on your old machine; and
- the version of 1P you are using on the new machine (and whether you bought it from the AgileBits store or from the Mac App Store).
While you wait for a full answer take a look at the AgileBits iCloud FAQ and see if anything there helps to explain the problem.

Stephen,
The version I used was the latest then available (about 3-5 months back). I bought it in the app store.

You can tell specifically what version you have by going to About 1Password in the 1Password menu. It's important to know that information, including the version number and where it was Puchases (which will be shown under the version number) to give you the best advice. You've told us where you made your purchase, but not the version number.

I'm sorry, but the only info I have about the iCloud stored version is that I was running Yosemite at the time of the crash. I don't know what the version of 1password was. The data on the disk is gone... I have now installed the latest version 5.02.

Hi @mpmahen,
I'm sorry to hear the data is completely gone on the broken drive. Just to know what other options we have, do you have any other devices that you were syncing your 1Password data with via iCloud, like an iOS device? How about a Time Machine drive?
I think the problem may be that iCloud is still downloading your data from the cloud if you have a lot of data stored on iCloud. 1Password might not be able to pull the data until iCloud is done syncing first.
However after installing 1 password and trying to restore from iCloud, it says I have to enable iCloud drive.
If you haven't done so, can you restart the iMac once more and see if that'll fix the issue. We rely on OS X to tell us if the Mac has it enabled or not. It could be pulling from an outdated state that might be fixed from a simple reboot.
If not, can you take a screenshot of what iCloud shows, so we can see what it saved.
Thanks!

As you can see there is some data there... I will check if I have some data on the time machine.

Hi @mpmahen,
Did you try restarting to see if that'll help?
For Time Machine, try this location: Home > Library > Containers > 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper > Data > Library > Backups
That folder is the Backups folder for the 1Password app sold at the Mac App Store. Backups will end with the .1p4_zip extension, can you see if you can find it by doing a system-wide search for any files ending in that extension.
