Steps to recreate:

  1. Open 1Password for iOS
  2. TouchID animation comes onto screen.
  3. Place finger on sensor
  4. TouchID animation does not go away
  5. Click cancel on TouchID animation
  6. TouchID animation goes away
  7. 1Password app "frozen" in grayed out state. Cannot use home button. Have to turn phone on and off.

iPhone 6, 32GB, latest version of iOS.

I assume you mean 64GB. I have the same iPhone as you do, provided I guessed your memory right. And this hasn't ever happened to me.

I have a couple of ideas to try though. First, force quit 1Password by double clicking the Home button to show the multitask screen and then swipe 1Password up an off the top of the screen. (Sorry if you already know how to do that.)

Second, try restarting your phone if the first option doesn't work.

Let us know if either option gets you back up and running.

If this has always been happening, I'd delete the app and reinstall it, BUT ONLY if you have your data backed up first. If you just delete, you will lose any data associated with 1Password.

I can't double click to get to the app switcher. The phone is completely frozen.

Restarting the phone does fix the issue.

Also, the "bug" doesn't appear every time I use 1Password. But when it does happen the steps were always the same to duplicate.

Yep, all my data is backed up, so maybe I'll try a delete/reinstall.

How often does this happen? If you do reinstall, let us know if that helps.

    I will delete/reinstall.

Then I'll track what percent of times I try to use the app it freezes. I'll also try to theorize any differences in how I use it.

I have this same issue, you can bypass it by locking the phone and then unlocking it. 1Password will prompt again for Touch ID and it will work.

I've had this same problem a few times. Only way to get around it is to lock the phone then unlock it again.

  • Hi folks,

We've filed a bug with Apple on this. We do not control the Touch ID process, that is all Apple.Hopefully they'll get this fixed up soon. In the mean time, the above mentioned workarounds are the only known way around the issue.

    Thanks.
