no WLAN found for WiFi-Sync

Hi,
I try 1Password for MacOS (trial from your homepage) and iOS (trial from AppStore) - both are very nice!
But I can't sync the 'existing (test-)vault' from my iMac (Yosemite) to my iPod (iOS8) using wifi. Because when I have to choose a WiFi-Network on the iPod, the list is empty - also after refreshing the list.
The name of my WLAN is set to 'non visible', is that a problem for 1Password?
Thanks a lot.

1Password uses the Bonjour service to communicate across the wireless network so I'm not sure whether invisibility of the SSID will make a difference. Of course, there is an easy way to test that. :)

There are some other things you can try:

    1. disable wifi sync on both the iPod and the Mac and then re-enable on both; and/or
    2. reboot both devices.

If you have a firewall on the Mac try temporarily disabling it and see if that makes a difference.

    Hi @Asteotiv‌

Yes, both devices must be connected to the same WiFi network before 1Password can sync over WiFi.

The fact that the SSID is invisible does not matter so long as both devices are connected to the same network and nothing is preventing them from communicating with each other.

    Thanks!

    Hi Stephen_C, hi bwoodruff,
today I disconnected my iMac from the LAN and switched to WLAN. I also switched off the firewall. And I shut-off-and-on my iPod totally.
First time it seemed that wifi-connection dosen't work furthermore. But round about 30 seconds later, I saw the iMac-icon at the 1Password-iPod-app and sync worked fine. :-)
After that I connected my iMac with LAN to Timecapsule, switched off the iMac-wifi and switched on the firewall again = everything like before.
I tried out 1Password-wifi-sync - and now everything also works fine too -?- Doesn't know why.
But now I kow - 1Password is the right decision for me and I will buy the full/pro versions.
Thank's a lot for your attention and help!

  • Thanks for the follow up! Glad to hear you've got it working.
