You will have to let us have more information before someone can help you.

    1. What version of 1P are you using on your Mac?
    2. Does this knowledge base article on running 1P for the first time help at all?
    3. Have you set up 1P on your iPad to sync with your Mac? If so what version of 1P are you using on your iPad and what sync method have you chosen?

    Hi @Eaglemania,

As Stephen_C says, we'll need a bit more detail here in order to get you sorted out. It sounds to me like you'll need to ensure that 1Password for iOS is set up to sync so that 1Password for Mac can find your data in the chosen sync source. Once we know your version numbers and what you would like to sync with, we'll be able to give you some better instructions. :)

I have downloaded the same app to my mac

Please go to 1P5 > About 1Password on your Mac and tell us exactly what it says there (ignoring the credits).

The first thing you need to understand is that you can't use the the AgileBits store version of 1P5 for iCloud sync of 1P data. Please read the AgileBits iCloud FAQ for the reason why.

Now can you please explain exactly what happens when you click on I've used 1Password before in the welcome screen.

    Hi @Eaglemania,

As Stephen said, the Agile Web Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac doesn't have the iCloud sync feature (please see the link he provided for more information about that). If you'd like to use iCloud sync, you'll need to purchase 1Password 5 for Mac from the Mac App Store.

Alternately, you can switch to Dropbox or Wi-Fi sync:

I'm sorry for the confusion about that! If you get the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5 for Mac and still need help to get iCloud sync working, or if you need help setting up Dropbox or Wi-Fi sync, please let us know.

Welcome back. Now that you’ve installed 1Password 4 for Mac on a new computer, let’s get started by running it and restoring your passwords & confidential data.

To begin, click on Finder > Applications and then double click on the 1Password 4 icon to start 1Password. ETC ETC ...and thats it
In preferences I don't get the option wi fi sync

    Hi @Eaglemania‌

There's a discrepancy between iOS and Mac here. Say I have vaults on my Mac that I want to add to a fresh copy of 1Password for iOS. I can use the Wi-Fi Sync option in the existing user window on my iOS device. Sadly the reverse isn't quite as 'smooth'.

Now this next part has changed so the following instructions pertains to the latest version of 1Password 5 which is 5.1. It's a free update and contains a good few sync bug fixes so we highly recommend it.

To sync an existing iOS vault with a fresh installation of 1Password 5 you need to create an new (and empty) vault. Then enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the new Wi-Fi Server tab. Tick the top checkbox and your Wi-Fi secret should appear. After that it's merely a matter of following our Sync over Wi-Fi (iOS) page and you can start at the Set up Wi-Fi sync on your iOS device. section.

The two will realise that iOS is populating the Mac vault and proceed from there. After that they will remain in sync as well.

If you have any questions do please ask
