Syncing my iPad

I cannot get my iPad to sync with my iMac and iPhone.

I am using the same Apple ID and I have the latest operating systems on each device. I have turned off sync on all devices, deleted my iCloud content, and then reconnected my three devices. My iPad still requires the old password I first used, and won't log into (at least some) of the sites it should. My iPhone and iMac are syncing fine.

Thank you.

I assume from the fact that you say:

I am using the same Apple ID

you bought 1P for Mac from the Mac App Store. Is that correct?

I further assume when you say:

I have the latest operating systems on each device

you mean you are running OS X 10.10.1 on the Mac and iOS 8.1.2 on the iPhone and iPad. Is that correct?

Does your 1P data sync to the iPad? On other words is the sync problem limited to the failure of a master password change to sync? If so, that's a known problem (the work around for which is to change your master password manually on the iPad to match the one on your Mac). The problem should be addressed by updates to 1P for Mac and 1P for iOS which are near release now.

    Stephen,

Yes, product was bought from the Mac App Store; yes, OSX 10.10.1 and iOS 8.1.2.

No, the problem is more than failure of the master password. If I try and log into Amazon from my iPad, I go to the 'E-mail Address Already in Use' page; from my Mac and iPhone, I log straight on as usual.

    Thank you.

  • Thanks for the update. Let's take a look at that login specifically then. What do you have saved for the URL/website field for your Amazon login?

Also did you save that from the browser extension on the Mac, or manually in the main application from one of the devices?

Below is the URL copied from my iPad 1Password Amazon page; I just synced with my iMac (having deleted the app and reinstalled it), I haven't put in any other information. Thank you.

    Hi @LevelSpirit,

Since you have 1Password on your Mac, let's try Saving a New Login Manually there. It sounds to me like 1Password might be filling in the new user fields on the Amazon website instead of the returning user fields. A manual save will teach 1Password which fields it should be filling.

Please let me know if this helps!

    Thank you.

I'm sorry to be thick, but I don't have the key icon in my browser's tool bar. I have the regular IPassword icon, but clicking that does not produce a screen which the link you sent me explains. Also, as the log in works from my Mac but not my iPad, why am I changing it on my Mac?

    Thanks again.

    Hi @LevelSpirit,

The Mac is the easiest place to change it. We don't have an equivalent of a manual save in iOS because of the limitations of extensions (as well as the extension simply being very new). Now Megan did point you to the version 4 guide by accident but the version 5 only differs slightly. Here is the Saving a Login Manually guide for version 5. If what you're seeing on screen diverges from what the guide says you should expect can you tell us exactly at what step and what you are instead seeing please.
