Syncing Problems with iCloud

Hi Everyone

I wonder i you can help me?

I have an iMac running Mavericks OS 10.9.5 on which I have 1Password 4.4.3 (purchased from Agile Web Store)

I also have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.2 on which I have 1Password 5.1.2 (purchased from the Apple Store)

I have both the iMac and iPhone set to sync with iCloud. Syncing has taken place successfully in the past, but it is failing to sync now. It goes through the motions on a regular basis and returns no sync errors, yet it isn't syncing as I have passwords on the iMac which are not available on the iPhone.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

I'm afraid you're not going to be able to use iCloud to sync between 1P4 on the Mac and 1P5 on iOS devices. Have a look at AgileBits' iCloud FAQ for the reason why. Further, you're not going to be able to update to 1P5 unless you also upgrade to OS X Yosemite (which I appreciate you may well not wish to do). That leaves you with either Dropbox or local wifi to sync 1P data.

As an aside, please also note that if and when you want to, and can, upgrade to 1P5 for Mac the AgileBits store version doesn't support iCloud sync (following changes made by Apple on the release of OS X Yosemite). The Mac App Store version does. Both versions of 1P5 for Mac support Dropbox and local wifi sync of 1P data.

Stephen, thank you for your response. I used to sync via Dropbox but changed to iCloud when I experienced syncing problems. Following your comments, I have now reverted back to Dropbox and everything has sync'd nicely. Thanks again, your input is greatly appreciated.

This is a follow-on query to the foregoing: if I have already established abundant data in my Primary Vault - BEFORE establishing a syncing capability between my iMac, iPhone and iPad - and, then, realize that I cannot sync via iCloud because I acquired my 1P5 from Agilebits instead of the Apple Store, how can I (a) "save" that data, (b) disable that sync, (c) acquire the 1P5 from the Apple Store, (d) re-deposit the data in the new Primary Vault of my new 1P5 and, finally, (e) sync via iCloud?

(a) Make sure you make a backup of your 1P data before venturing further (1P5 > Preferences > Backup and click on Backup Now).

(b) Simply go to 1P > Preferences > Sync and disable iCloud sync there (Change syncing then Disable sync).

(c) If you bought 1P5 from the AgileBits store within the past 30 days AgileBits will refund the price to enable you to buy 1P5 from the Mac App Store.

(d) This knowledge base article will tell you exactly how to migrate from the AgileBits store version to the Mac App Store version of 1P.

(e) Set up iCloud sync.
