1Password not sync'ing between OSX devices
Hi
I have a Mac and a Mac Air but 1Password does not reliably sync passwords - this has happened several times recently, the most recent was that I changed by ebay password on Monday (so 3 days ago) on my Mac, and went to log in to ebay on my Air tonight but the password was the old one still. I opened the full 1Password app on both Macs, side by side and they both said that they has sync'ed within the last minute (one was 19 secs, the other 29 secs) but the passwords were different.
How do I fix this? Both Macs are running the same version (1Password Version 5.0.2 (502006) Mac App Store) and both are sync'ing (or supposed to sync) via iCloud.
BTW, if this isn't the official support channel please can someone tell me how to get hold of technical support direct?
Thanks
John

While we do have unbelievable moderators, people here simply out of their huge passion for 1Password we here at AgileBits also do actively monitor the forums and try to respond to every thread. If a situation turns out to be complicated or may require us asking for details that are best not disclosed in a public forum we will switch to email. We're using the forums at the moment in the belief it will allow us to help more people in a faster way compared to answering each person individually.
Now as to your issue.
What might be worth trying is resetting iCloud sync on both Macs and seeing if this has any impact.
Firstly, on the Mac (with the new eBay password) enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Backup tab. Click on the Backup Now button so you know you have a good backup with the latest passwords. This is your safety net should anything go wrong.
Now on both Macs do the following; enter 1Password's preferences and switch to the Sync tab. Click on the Change Syncing... button. On the first simply confirm using the Disable Sync button. On the second Mac tick the checkbox to Delete data from iCloud. This will disable sync and also purge the sync data. Give it a moment and then set up iCloud sync once more on both devices. Does this improve the situation at all?

Hi Bobby
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you I assumed I'd get an email when there was a reply!
I did the backup and then noticed that they are both synced now; thansk for your suggestion, I'll try that if it happens again

Hi @johnspackman,
In the case of iCloud Sync, you may have to wait up to 20 minutes between changes to get them synced. Most of the time, the changes sync near instantaneously, but in some cases the data isn't available to the other devices for a while. The '20 minute' figure is mostly made up, but it's a common "it shouldn't take more than that" number. Unfortunately with iCloud it's a bit of a black box in some respects.
I highly recommend that you upgrade to 1Password 5.1 where sync saw a lot of work. If you run into any more sync issues (or any issue for that matter), please let us know. If there are bugs kicking around, we want them squashed.
Cheers.
Rick
