New Mac, want to sync with old continuasly
I just bought a little Macbook Air to have when I travel. I have a license for 1password. Bought it on March 9 2014 and it says I can use it on as many computers as I wish. I have the long code but when I go into my new computer and press license, add a license, they open up my finder... shouldn't they just give me a box to copy in the code? I can't get my new computer authorized...
I've wanted to download it from the Apple Store originally to get an easy sync but they wanted payment so that was a no go. I transfered it over from my time machine.
Om my new computer I can switch between vault "1Password" which have 96 items and "Primary" which have 71. On my old computer I can't switch (at least not what I know of). That vault isn't called anything and has 98 items.
I use dropbox as the "backup" for 1Password".
How can I get so I preferable only have one "primary" vault on both computers and they sync automatically??
I leave on a 7 week trip on Monday and the old computer will stay home. Would really appreciate some help before then.
Thanks so much
Sophie

Hi @soffan73
I apologise for the delay in responding.
I see two issues. One is the trouble you're having in applying your 1Password 5 licence.
For 1Password 4/5 you will need to download your licence file from a link in the email and it should look a little like this:
1Password 5 for Mac
Name: littlebobbytables
Download: https://agilebits.com/downloads
Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license
Notes:
No link? Link not working? View the complete installation steps.
Obviously I've stripped out the last two links as those are unique to the licensee. If you're viewing the email from within googlemail at all you may very well find the second URL is stripped out - thank you gmail :\
The second or third link though should allow you to download your licence file so while we haven't attached the licence file, the information needed to obtain it should be contained within.
If you don't have the original email or licence file then you can request it to be resent via this page.
The next is your issue with syncing. Simply based on the number of items in each I'm guessing your 'old computer' is the most up to date.
Probably the easiest thing to do given the lack of time (sorry about that) is as follows.
On your old computer make an up-to-date backup. You can do this by going into 1Password's preferences and switching to the Backup tab. Click on the Backup Now button and then the Show Files button. This will open a Finder window in the location of your backups. Copy the newest one to your Desktop. Then you want to copy this to your new machine.
With this backup on your new machine I would suggest following our Starting Over guide to remove the weird two vault situation you have going on. Then following our Getting started again on a new computer guide you will want to specify the backup. Your two machines won't be in sync as a result but we can take care of that when you return. The important part is that everything on your old machine will be on the new one.
All of this assumes you're running 1Password 4/5 on both machines but as long as that is true you should be fine. Good luck on the trip!
