iCloud sync = backup?
Hi,
Considering using 1Password for iOS, I have the following questions. I did read the guide/knowledgebase/faq, but I couldn't find definitive answers.
- Is iCloud sync (e.g. sync between iPhone and iPad) part of the free iOS app? If not; does the one time license (9,99 euro) do the trick?
- Does a iCloud sync mean that my data is stored in the cloud? Meaning that, if my devices get lost, I still can access my passwords using a new iOS device?
- If the data is stored in the iCloud; does this automatically mean more vulnerability of the data?
Well that's it! Thanks for your time/effort.

Syncing to iCloud does not require the Pro features. You can do so with the free version. It is worth noting that you only need to purchase the Pro features once. You can then install them on any iOS device that is using the same Apple ID.
Yes, your data are stored in the cloud with either iCloud or Dropbox syncing. If you need to gain access on a new device, you would install 1Password on it, and when it asks if you have used 1Password before, you would answer, Yes. You would then point to the location of your stored data (iCloud in the case you're asking about), and 1Password would sync those data down to your new device.
There is a difference of opinion about security of data in the cloud. In the case of 1Password, the real security is the strength of your master password. If you have a strong master password, your database should be perfectly secure, even if you post it in a public forum. But there are users who avoid putting anything in the cloud because they worry about security. So it's for you to decide. It's well worth reading this blog post, Toward Better Master Passwords.

Thanks for this very helpful reply.
My conclusion being that the free version app seems to do everything I want. If I'm indeed happy with it, I might just purchase a license to say thanks and make sure the developers get paid to make it even better ;).
