Problem with Family Sharing
I purchased 1Password for Mac from the Apple App Store and my wife and I are registered as a Family on the Apple system. Apple has confirmed that everything was purchased and register correctly and that Family Sharing was set up properly. I use 1Password and when I tried to set it up on my wife's iMac there is no indication that 1Password is a Purchased application in the App store. How do I get access to 1Password for my wife?

Does this Apple Support page on Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing help at all? Sadly they didn't make it as easy as simply merging all purchases into one list, you have to select the person first.

The first time we made use of family sharing, it caused us some anxiety. When the second user wen to download it from the App Store, it seemed as if there was going to be a second charge for the application. On the advice of an Apple support person, we plowed ahead. Only after we clicked the Buy button did it let us know that the application was eligible for Family Sharing. No second charge was made, even though it seemed like it would be.
It would help their users if Apple automatically marked applications that could be shared, in advance of clicking on the Buy button. In the case of an application like 1Password, it's a US$49.99 case of anxiety.

@hawkmoth I haven't tried or even seen Family Sharing yet, they've seriously done that? wow. That seems like quite the regression as I'm sure I remember them doing something similar a few years ago and that it took them a while to change buy to download. It's a bit different though given the typical difference in price between an iOS purchase and a MAS one. I can only imagine that must bump up the refund claims (which they don't publicise very well).
That doesn't sound very friendly :disappointed:

@littlebobbytables - My guess is that they don't do the test to see whether someone wanting to download an application is in a family group until the person actually attempts to download something. I suppose it's easier on Apple that way, but it takes some getting used to for the family group.

@hawkmoth, I wasn't aware of how that worked either, as I haven't tried Family Sharing yet. Hopefully Apple will make that a bit clearer in the future to avoid confusion. Thanks for the info!
@harrisnmiller, I hope hawkmoth's information was helpful for you. If you have more questions, please let us know. :)
