Urgent Family License implementation issue
My husband, Gary Kah, bought a 5 person One Password 5 for Mac license on August 27, 2014. It seems to not have been activated for me. When I go into my license area it shows a previous license and when I click on "replace license", it asks for a key. We do not see a key on the new license info on his mac.
Will appreciate help soon. I have lost all capability except the ability to look up the 1Password contents.

The key was replaced with a license file when version 4 appeared. Your husband should have that file, which you would install on your machine.
Also, with the appearance of version 5 and Yosemite, the family license was discontinued and the terms for the single user license were changed so that they allow for using that license on the machines of as many a six family members living in the same household. That brought the web store version in line with Family Sharing for users who buy directly from Apple.
If you husband has forgotten where that license file is, he can request a replacement by going to the Support page and entering the email address he used to make his buy. That page is here.

Hi @TERG,
The information from hawkmoth is correct, and I just wanted to add that if you're seeing a "Replace License" option in the License window of 1Password, it sounds like you're using 1Password 3. To use the license for 1Password 5 that your husband bought, you'll first need to install 1Password 5 on your Mac, and then you can add the license file to it.
You can download 1Password 5 for Mac from our download site. Please note, 1Password 5 for Mac requires Mac OS 10.10 (Yosemite).
I hope this all helps, but let us know if you have more questions about that. :)

OK. Thank you hawkmoth and Drew. I am not rushing to upgrade from OS 10.9 to Yosemite yet given all the bad reviews. I was happy with my 1 password and then the mini version disappeared from my toolbar. I have found no way to get that back -- there is no mention of it in the program. This means that I have to dig my PWs and user names out of the application and paste them into each web site: Not the functionality one needs. How can get full 1 password version 3 or 4 functionality while I wait for Yosemite to get stabilized?

Hi @TERG,
To clarify, 1Password 4 and 5 uses the same license file, so your husband just have to send you the license file for you to register it with 1Password 4 on your Mac with 10.9.
However, it sounds like you might need to upgrade to 1Password 4 first on 10.9 before we proceed with fixing the missing 1Password mini.
Can you open 1Password from your Applications folder, go to the 1Password Menu > About 1Password and tell me which version it shows.
If it shows 1Password 3 version, download 1Password 4 from here: https://d13itkw33a7sus.cloudfront.net/dist/1P/mac4/1Password-4.4.3.zip
Extract the zip file, move 1Password 4.app to your Applications folder, and open it. It should detect your existing 1Password 3 data and prompt for the password, unlock and see if it shows your data.
If it does, go to the 1Password 4 Menu > Install Browser Extensions, which will open a page in your default browser and you can follow instructions in there to install the extension.
After that, restart your browser and you should see your 1Password extension ready for you to unlock and start filling your data.
If not, please let me know what happened.
Thanks!

Hi, Big issue solved, another discovered.
I downloaded 1Password 4 and it shows my data. I also downloaded the Safari extension. This gave me the 30 day free trial. I managed to get the license by going to the original email he got in August and clicking on the clickable part of this line:"Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license"
Initially I tried using the license file (I assume that that is the 5 or so line link) in another email he had gotten from Agilebits. It is no longer clickable and did not work when I tried to copy and paste it in my browser. So, I went to the link that Hawkmoth provided for getting a copy of one's license. There I found a different issue: Unfortunately when I put my husband's email in it, the email he got in return has the old 1password 3 license info, not the new one. I have confirmed that he used the same email address in both cases. FYI his email receipt was dated August 27, 2014 and indicates:
"1Password 4 for Mac (Family License)
Upgrade for [removed by AgileBits] $34.99"Summary: I am up and running with a license (thank you!) but please check your system because it does not seem to have the latest license info for us and this may be an issue in the future.

Hi @TERG
I've removed the licence key from your post, given the forums are public you don't want that displayed anywhere.
So I did a little digging and found we have two separate records for your husband's email address. The names differed so our system kept them separate. Sadly that causes a blip when you're trying to retrieve your licences. I've merged the records and sent you a fresh email with all of your licences enclosed.
For 1Password 4/5 you will need to download your licence file from a link in the email and it should look a little like this:
1Password 5 for Mac
Name: littlebobbytables
Download: https://agilebits.com/downloads
Register: With 1Password downloaded, click here to automatically add your license
Notes:
No link? Link not working? View the complete installation steps.
Obviously I've stripped out the last two links as those are unique to the licensee. If you're viewing the email from within googlemail at all you may very well find the second URL is stripped out - thank you gmail :\
The second or third link though should allow you to download your licence file so while we haven't attached the licence file, the information needed to obtain it should be contained within.
If you're still having troubles post back here and we can look into it more for you.
