Sync problems

Had to have iPhone 6 Plus replaced. As a result, the items in 1Password on Mac do not match what wound up on my phone. I've gone through this before but cannot remember how to resolve. Can you help? I do not see where, on the site, to send you a support request.

    In order to help you we really need more information. Please confirm:

    1. the 1P version you use on your Mac;
    2. the 1P version you use on your phone (go to the 1P Settings screen and look towards the bottom for the version number);
    3. what sync method you use.

    Mac version: 5.3.Beta.-2
    Phone: 5.2
    Do not see where to determine sync method on either device. Need help with that. Sorry.

    Maybe my question was too brief. I meant to discover how you sync 1P data usually between you Mac and your phone (wifi, Dropbox or iCloud).

    I'm not sure. I think wifi. How do I check that? I know that what I want on all devices (iPhone & iPad), is the data that is on the Mac.

    Ok...kind of turning me loose here, I guess. Which method do you recommend?

    Sorry, don't want you to think I was "turning you loose": just a little short of time at the moment and didn't want to try to type out a vast message, most of which would not be relevant. :)

    I've been rather relying on this in your initial post:

    From that I understood that you know the basics of 1P sync because you've used it before. I'm sorry if I misunderstood. As you're using a beta version of 1P5 on the Mac you won't be able to use iCloud to sync (because only the Mac App Store version of 1P supports 1P data sync using iCloud). That leaves you only having to chose between local wifi sync and Dropbox sync. The choice is very much up to you but, for what it's worth, I use wifi and it works very well. So long as you're not wanting to do anything too complex (like individual sync of multiple vaults), which I guess you don't, you should find wifi sync works well for you. It's quite easy to set up and try and you can always post back if you have problems.

    I did wifi. Mac & iPad show 223 All Items & 177 Logins. iPhone shows 222 All Items & 176 Logins.

    Hi @Kent Pavelka

    I'm so glad to see that Stephen_C has been helping you through this. Let's run a test and see where things are getting tripped up:

    • Create a test entry on your Mac ("Test, Mac") and add some data
    • Create a test entry on each of your iOS devices ("Test, iPhone/iPad") and add some data
    • Does "Test for Mac" show up on either of your iOS devices?
    • Does "Test for iPhone" and/or "Test for iPad" show up on your Mac?

    Please let me know the results of this little experiment - once we have a better idea of where things are going sideways, we should be able to get this straightened out simply for you :)

    I did that and yes, they all showed up on all devices. There is still one more item and one more Login listed on the iPhone than there are on both the iPad & Mac.

    Hi @Kent Pavelka

    When you had your iPhone 6 replaced did you restore a backup to return it to the previous state?

    I'm just wondering if clearing 1Password on your iPhone and initiating a fresh sync would help in this case.

    To clear 1Password for iOS you can use the following option in the app, Settings > Advanced > Erase Data and Settings. 1Password for iOS will close and when you start it again you can select Sync existing vault and then Sync using Wi-Fi. Once set up it should sync the correct number of items as exist on your Mac.

    Do keep us informed.

    I do believe that did it. Thanks very much.

  • Hi @Kent Pavelka,

    That's great to hear. If you have any more issues, please do let us know.

    Cheers.
