Family Purchase through Apple App Store

My wife purchased 1Password on her mac using her iCloud account. On your website, you say families can share a single license among themselves. Since we have different iCloud IDs, and the App Store doesn't operate on licenses, I can't figure out how to download 1Password on my computer. Is there any way I can get a license for her purchase?

You can set up Family Sharing if you are both on Yosemite. 1Password is eligible for Family Sharing. You will both have to use the same credit card for purchases from Apple's app stores, but you then do not have to have the same Apple ID to use 1Password via a single purchase. Instructions for settin up Family Sharing are on the Apple web site.

    Hi @amankj

This seems to be Apple's main page on Family Sharing but they also have this page specific to Sharing purchased content with Family Sharing. Hopefully they help as a good starting point for Family Sharing.

I actually had Family Sharing turned on, but Apple's documentation isn't actually accurate, so I didn't know where to go. Once family sharing is on, you have to go to "Purchases", and there is a dropdown where you can select your other family member's purchases. You can install the app from there.

Thanks for posting that!! I did not know about that. We've been braving the Buy button, which eventually lets you know that a family member has purchased the app and you don't have to pay after all.

    Hi @amankj ,

I'm so glad to hear that you're all sorted out, and for sharing that extra step to find a family member's purchases.

I hope that 1Password works perfectly for you from now on, but we're here if you have any further questions or concerns.
