You Send License #, not License File
AHHHH - so frustrated!
Had to do a fresh install of Safari extension, but it wasn't working.
Seems I'm still using 1P v3, but there's no download to the extension that works with it.
So I downloaded 1P V4. To register, I need a license file. So asked for it to be sent me to, but I was sent a long registration #, no license file to drop and drag.
The email says directs me to a download page with the directions "Select 1Password > License… and paste the above information."
However, the page linked to does not have a link to download the license file, or the old extension I need.
I've just wasted at least 20 minutes of my time on this - so irritated.
Also, I cannot find information about whether my license for 1P3 will work on 1P4 or 1P5, or if I'm expected to pay to upgrade, which I have no need of doing.
Hoping someone from Agilebits is able to help.
Thanks.

The upgrade from 1P3 to 1P4 was not free: you had to pay for it. However, the good news is that:
- the 1P4 licence also covers 1P5 (so if you ever install OS X Yosemite you can upgrade to 1P5 without further charge);
- you may be entitled to a discount.
To find out the cost of the upgrade to 1P4 go to this page and fill in the 1P3 licence number you were sent. Don't worry if any page refers to buying 1P5—you buy a licence for 1P5 and it just works in 1P4 as well.
There's one important thing to note. You can get the discount via the AgileBits store but not if you buy 1P from the Mac App Store. There is now one key difference between the AgileBits store version and the Mac App Store version. The latter version supports iCloud to sync 1P data between your Mac and any iOS device. The AgileBits store version does not support iCloud sync of 1P data. Both versions support sync using either local wifi or Dropbox.
If you are ever likely to want to use iCloud to sync 1P data you must buy from the Mac App Store—but if you do that you won't get the discount.
Sorry it's a little complicated—but the choice is yours. :)

Hi @manda
Just to add a little to Stephen_C's fairly comprehensive post. We never removed the extensions for 1Password 3 and they're still accessible in the same way. If you open 1Password 3 you will have a drop down menu option 1Password > Install Browser Extensions. That will take you to the correct URL for your version. As long as you install that browser extension, with the standard caveats I'm afraid, it will work.
By caveats I mean that while you have a licence for 1Password 3 which is for life, as versions of OS X and browsers change there is always the possibility that they will break given they are no longer under active development. You may reach a point where if you want to continue using 1Password 3 you have to make the decision not to upgrade some either your operating system or your browser.
If you have any questions regarding anything Stephen_C or I has said do please ask
