Need Help! Afraid I Will Lose All Info Entered - Message Says Only 3 Days to Purchase???
Hi Support Person,
We purchased update to 1Password 5 off Mac in January. We had not previously installed 1Password and waited until we had installed OS10.10.2 then installed 1Password 5 for Mac.
After loading a lot of information was trying in preferences to sync to iCloud and received message that We had 3 days to purchase. This seems to indicate a problem with our installation but We don't know how to fix and certainly don't want to lose all information entered. Your help will be very much appreciated. Peace, Paul

I'm not sure what to make your report about the message that you have three days to purchase, but if you bought the license from AgileBits on their web store, it sounds to me as if you didn't install the license file that will register your copy. You should have received an email message right after you bought the license that contains the instruction on how to register your copy. If you can't find that email message, you can request that it be resent. The simplest way, if you know the email address you used to make your purchase, is to go to this page and fill in that email address in the upper left panel of the page.
If I've misunderstood your issue, you can rest easy that your data are safe. When the trial period expires, you won't be able to add new data or edit your existing data, but you will continue to have access to them. They will not be deleted.
If you bought a copy from the Apple Mac App Store, let us know. I don't know for sure what you should do in that case. There is a post at the top of the Mac section of the forum that discusses cases where users are receiving expired license notices when they shouldn't. It doesn't sound like that's the message you are getting, but you can read that post with this direct link.

Hi Hawkmoth,
I am grateful for your response, especially knowing the imputed info will not be deleted. This will give me the time to find out what I need to do to get on the right track. On January 7th I received an email Subject: Your Receipt and License Information, thanking me for my purchase. After installing and initial input of some info I had a message that indicated there were multiple versions of 1P installed and to delete a version. My guess now is I deleted something that should not have been deleted. Can someone step me through what to do about activating the appropriate 1P keeping in mind my desire to retain already entered info? Peace, Paul0 -
If you go to the 1Password item in the menu bar and click on About 1Password, what does the about screen tell you? It should give the version number and indicate where the copy was obtained. Let us know what that says.
Maybe to save you some time, if you find that it says you have version 5.x.x and that you got it from the AgileBits store, you should be able to just follow again the information in that email message you referred to. There should be a link to click to automatically apply the license, but if you're using Gmail, it has been stripping out some links. If that applies to you, there is also a link to follow for complete instructions for getting and applying the license file.
Your other comments make me expect that your copy is from AgileBits and that these instructions will get you up and running.

Hi @paulkelly ,
It's great to see that Hawkmoth's been helping you out here, he's given you some pretty sound advice. I hope that you are able to get 1Password back to normal by following his steps, but if you hit any snags, we're happy to help!

Hi Megan,
Thank you so much for your response as well. I am out and away from my Mac but will follow up on Hawkmoth's guidance when home. It appears when I log into 1P that the primary vault, in which I entered a lot of info, is shown dimmed or non bold. When trying to sync to iCloud it is not an option. Anyway I will explore more when home. These reflections are from memory (not always most reliable). Again, thanks for the quick response which is reassuring that you will be there to help me through this process.
Peace, Paul0 -
Given that you purchased from the AgileBits web store, you won't be able to use iCloud for syncing. Apple removed this possibility from applications that they don't sell on their app stores.

Hi Hawkmoth,
The about info confirms version 5.1 from Agile Web Store and when I clicked on License it confirmed my purchase on January 7th 2015. Wow, about iCloud sync. Does that mean if I want to back up to iCloud I will need to purchase another 1P license through the Apple Store? In the mean time, what alternatives can I use that will permit backups to my Mac computer while also providng access and use of 1P apps on iPhone or iPad? Peace0 -
AgileBits will refund your purchase price if you are within their 30-day money-back guarantee period. It appears you are barely within that window. Send a request for a refund to support+licenses@agilebits.com. Include the email address you used for your purchase, your full name and the full address you gave. Include a link to this thread. You will receive an automated email reply with a case number. Post that number back here so the staff can connect your request to this discussion.
They will issue a refund, and then you'll be free to purchase from the Mac App Store.
Edit: When you are ready to make the move to the Mac App Store version, be sure to follow these directions: Migrating to the Mac App Store version.

As hawkmoth says, you now only have a short time to decide whether you want a refund from AgileBits.
You don't actually need iCloud to sync to iPhone and iPad. You can use Dropbox sync (or wifi sync). Many of us, including several of the Agile staff, are happy with Dropbox. Of course, you may have a preference for iCloud.

Thanks for pointing out options. I tried wifi sync but was not sure how to activate on the Mac. I will continue to work at this but may just have to throw in the towel with time running out. Does anyone know if anyone from Agile Bits can extend the time frame? Again many thanks to all for your counsel. Peace

See this knowledge base article for how to use wifi sync on your Mac.

Hi @paulkelly, Given we have our own store we could, in theory, offer a refund period of greater than 30 days. What I would say though is I believe refunds become potentially problematic past that because of how refunds work with the payment processors. I'm definitely not expert with these business matters though (they liked me because I'm seemed to be clued up about 1Password).
Now Wi-Fi Sync changed a lot in 5.1 (for the better though, it's a massive improvement over the previous one) but the guide Stephen_C pointed you to does tell you everything you should need for it. If we can be of any more assistance do please let us know.
