Screensaver seems to break Safari integration [resolving issue through email]

Hello,

I'm using Safari 8.0.3 on Mac OS 10.10.2 (14C109) with the 1password extension on a 13" Macbook Pro.

Every time the screensaver is active (after 10 mins of inactivity), the Safari extension does not work anymore. When I browse to a site for which I stored a password, neither the extension nor 1password mini offers the saved password. When I manually search for the specific login for the site, it does not fill the data into the input fields. Sometimes when this happens 1password mini offers to install the Safari extension. After restarting Safari everything works normal.

Any ideas how to resolve this? Let me know if you need more details.

Thanks!

    Hi @Kasperl,

That's definitely a strange issue! That's never happened to me, and I don't recall hearing anything like that from other users. Can you please let us know the following:

    • Which version of 1Password are you using? (From the main app, go to the menu for 1Password > About 1Password for version info)
    • Are you using the web store version or Mac App Store version of 1Password?
    • Which version of the 1Password extension is installed in Safari? (Go to Safari > Preferences > Extensions)

Also, have you tried restarting your Mac to see if it helps? If not, please give it a shot and let us know how it goes. Thanks!

    Hi Drew,

It may also be that the problem is caused when the display is turned off to save power after 10 mins of inactivity.

    I'm using 1password 5.1 (510027). It's the version from the app store.
    Safari extension is version 4.2.5

If I restart my Mac it works because Safari is restarted too.

    Hi @Kasperl,

When I say that is some odd behaviour I genuinely mean it. We did have a user recently saying Firefox was exhibiting something similar but again, until recently I hadn't come across somebody with this particular problem.

    So just to clarify.

    1. If you access 1Password mini from its menu bar icon it always opens, is that correct?
    2. Selecting an item though won't fill into the page as expected (and how it worked prior to the screen saver kicking in).
    3. What happens if you click on the browser extension icon? Does it open the standard mini menu or just fail completely?

Along with those answers I wonder if a Diagnostic Report would be useful.

I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac.

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

Once you've sent the Report a post here with the ticket ID will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

today the situation was different. Safari was working fine but I experienced the same problems in Chrome.
After screensaver/suspend, Chrome didn't provide the option to fill the login to a webpage.

On last Friday, Chrome was working but I had the issue with Safari as described above.

    Regarding your questions:

1 Yes, it always opens in the menu bar

2 No, it does not fill data to the page

3 It opens the standard mini menu in the browser

I sent you the diagnostics report.

    Thanks!

    Hi @Kasperl,

We received your diagnostics report, thanks for sending that! I've added some internal notes to the email thread so it's easier for our support team to get up to speed with the issue. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible with more information, and we'll keep the conversation going directly via email.

    Thanks!
