1Password 5.2 Repeatable Crash

Here is a pretty easy-to-replicate crash on a 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1.3. Just tap cancel on the authentication prompt and boom the app crashed. I made a video of the issue in action.

  • Hi @ravigupta,

This is not a crash, but an intentional closing of the app. May I ask: what were you expecting to happen when you selected to cancel unlocking 1Password?

    Please let me know! :)

At-least the label 'Close' instead of 'Cancel'. If Apple does not allow you guys to modify that label, there should be a better way to inform people what just happened. This one use case is so against everything else UX wise on this app that it feels jarring.
Also, I don't know if you know it, but this is exactly what the UX for app crashes is on iOS.

  • We have discussed that, yes, and I believe our developers are looking into how we might be able to make it more obvious that this is expected behavior. The biggest problem, as you alluded, is that we do not control that Touch ID prompt at all. Once that appears on the screen, it is all Apple.

As I recall the consensus last time we discussed this was in agreement with your opinion, but I'm not sure we were able to come to any conclusion yet as to how we might be able to better handle it.

All that to say: yes, this is something we're looking at improving, but for now it is working as designed.
