Safari Extension, any way to not have to enter password every time?

Hi @sfatula,
It shouldn't be, it is meant to honour the same Auto-Lock timer as the main app. I assume you're running 5.2. It wouldn't do any harm to perform a reboot and see if that makes any difference. You'll be asked for your Master Password once and then you can return to using Touch ID.
Let us know if that makes any difference

Makes no difference at all. Continues to ask for touchid or password every time within Safari. Even seconds later, whereas, the iPassword app does not ask, as I have it set to the max.

I've noticed the same thing on my iPad Air. The extension always demands the master password, even though I have a 10 minute delay before its required again in the main application.

I've re-opened a bug report recently as after playing around with 1Password 5.2 for iOS I discovered similar to what you're reporting. Tell me if this tallies with your experiences and observations. If you unlock the main app the extension behaves for however long the timer is set for but only from when you last had the app open. Once that timer has expired you're always asked to unlock your vault in the extension, no matter how long between usages.
It seems the timer isn't being set or reset when the vault is unlocked by the extension although it is meant to be. My own findings though suggested that unlocking your vault with the main app meant the extension behaved for as long as your timeout is set for though.
As I say, let me know if your experiences differ at all in case we have more than just that bug.

If I understand you correctly, @littlebobbytables, I have a different experience. Specifically, I just opened the main app on my iPad. It has a 10 minute timeout period before it asks for my master password again. I do not have a PIN set.
Immediately after opening the main app, I opened a web page and activated the extension to retrieve my crednetials. The 1Password lock screen appeared and asked for my master password. So, even though the main app had just been opened, the extension still demanded my master password. The timeout period had not expired.

Hi @hawkmoth,
That is expected behaviour if you don't have Touch ID or PIN Code enabled — you do need to enter your master password every single time you use the extension.
Every instance of an iOS extension runs as its own process, so there's no way for us to keep your vault's master key in memory, therefore you must enter your master password each time.
When you enable Touch ID or the PIN Code in 1Password's security preferences, your master password is stored in the iOS keychain. This allows the app and the extension to unlock without making you enter the master password. If your Touch ID fingerprint is verified or you enter the correct PIN Code, your master password is retrieved from the iOS Keychain and your data is decrypted.

@JasperP - Thanks for that clarification. I should have tested that before I posted. I thought there might be a chance that no having a PIN set was related to my experience, which is why I included that in my report.
Only slightly related, I do it this way because entering the master password isn't so much trouble on my iPad as it is on my iPhone, and this helps reinforce remembering it.

Hopefully our developers will find a way to make this easier in the future. For now, if you don't want to have to enter your master password each time you use the extension in Safari, you'll need to enable the PIN Code (or Touch ID) option in 1Password.
Otherwise, at least it's not as much trouble to enter the master password on an iPad! ;)
