Syncing issues
I have the latest versions of 1Password on my Mac, my iPad and my iPhone and have Dropbox syncing enabled. My issue is that each application has different password information. What is the simplest way to combine the information into one repository without losing any password data? This will then become my main password repository which I can edit. I'm comfortable if the fix means migrating to icloud or staying with Dropbox.

Hi @neilwain,
1Password can merge your data files when you select the same file for syncing. However, merging is not always perfect, so the first thing to do is back up your 1Password data.
Backing up 1Password data
- On the Mac, open 1Password and go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Backup to tap on Backup now
- For each of your iOS device, use this guide to back up your 1Password data via iTunes: https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-ios/5/en/topic/itunes-backups
Before we proceed, can you tell me if you have different 1Password data files in the Dropbox folder? Can you do a search for .agilekeychain files in your Dropbox folder and tell me how many you found?
Also, check which data file your 1Password app is syncing to:
Finding out the data file 1Password is syncing to
- On the Mac, open 1Password, go to the 1Password Menu > Preferences > Sync, select the vault on the left sidebar and it should show you the data file on the right side.
- On the iOS device, open 1Password, go to Settings > Sync, tap on Sync Service [Dropbox], the data file should be labeled below Dropbox on top.

Hi MikeT
Your information is prescient and I have made backups. I then migrated to iCloud syncing thereby merging all my repositories and have just completed cleaning all.
Thanks for the help, all is now fine.

That's great to hear @neilwain, I hope iCloud serves you well but if you have any issues with this or anything else you know where we are
