Open url and prefill does not work [known issue; see post #8]

Hi

I've had this issue for quite a while now, but haven't gotten around to investigate it.
When I double click a login in the 1password vault, it used to open the url and prefill the login details.
However, this is not working anymore.

The URL opens, but no login is entered in. I can't even use the browser extension to login. The browser shows the right login details, but it does not prefill it.
That is until I reload the page manually. Then I can login using the browser extension.

I am using OSX 10.10.2, Chrome 40.0.2214.94 and 1Password 5.1

    Hi @jklupfel,

    1. Is this one or two Login items or is it happening to virtually all of them?
    2. Does installing the 1Password browser extension from Google Chrome and re-installing it make any difference?
    3. Have you rebooted your Mac at all recently and if you haven't, does doing so make any difference?

Thank you for the answers to those, hopefully it will shed some light on what is happening.

    Hi @jklupfel ,

Thanks for getting back to us with those details! Let's take a closer look at your system to see if we can determine where things are getting tangled up. I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your Mac:
    https://guides.agilebits.com/kb/1password4/en/topic/diagnostics-report#mac4

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.

A short note here once you've sent the Report in will help us to keep an eye out for it. :)

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!

I too am having this issue. I have created a diagnostic report and emailed it to the listed address.
    Thanks!

    Hi @Utgoff,

Thanks for sending that Report in! I took a quick look in our system, but I was unable to find an email from the address you attached to your forum account. If you could let us know the Support ID that you received from our automated BitBot assistant, I'd be happy to track it down and ensure that it gets answered quickly. :)

Hi @jklupfel this is a known issue with the latest version of our extension. We have bugs filed. It should work fine in Firefox and Safari though, at least in my testing it seems that only Chrome has this issue.

Sorry for the trouble though, we'll try to get this resolved as soon as we can. You should also receive an email response to the ticket you sent in from a colleague who is writing it up now :)

The best work around is to open the page in chrome without using 1Password, then click the extension icon or mini icon and choose your login. Or if you have a single login, Control+\ should get the same job done.

@Utgoff Looks like the same applies to you as above :)

I also find that a quick Command+R after Go and Fill, followed by a refill from the plugin works reliably.

    Hi @Utgoff,

Thanks for the tip! I've also noticed refreshing the site and trying the 1Password extension again seems to help, so that's a good workaround. Hopefully that will be helpful to others who are having the same problem, while our developers work on squashing this bug.

If you need anything else, just let us know - we're always happy to help! :)

Thanks for the 5.3 update which fixed this bug! Now onto letting us add website form fields manually! (https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/17770/add-form-details)

  • Glad to hear 5.3 has helped! Onward and upward. :)
