Photography of Passwords

Sometimes i see Passwords/Security Codes displayed on Devices. I need to read and write them into my 1Password. It would be more comfortable and awesome feature for 1Password to photography such Codes from Paper or Display and save it as Note, WLAN WEP/WPA/WPA2 Key or read the WLAN QR-Codes and save it quick and easy.

Some Routers like AVM Fritz.Box produce basically QR-Codes of WLAN SSD/Key but in Internet you can generate for every WLAN access comfortable QR Codes.

Mostly such Codes like Apple Security iCloud Key, WEP/WPA Keys are long ;)

  • Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure how practical OCR is, but we already have a QR code reader built in for capturing TOTP information so I don't imagine it being that much of a stretch to implement it in other areas of the app.

You are right. For OCR solution i think you need a License by ABBYY. But maybe would be a nice feature for the future.

    Few other suggestions/ideas/informations of me:

    1. My favorites on iOS device. I know i can order them but i have now a lot of favorite logins etc. and i want to sort by Name (ABC) Desc/Asc and not manuel.
    2. Maybe iOS 8.1 Widget for Favorites/2-Factor Tokens as fast access solution.
    3. At the moment i use for 2-Factor Auth the free App Authy because it is easier and faster for me to see fast the Tokens. In Reviews, Blog comments i saw most people use Apps like Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Accounts Auth App because for them is the way more comfortable. You should improve here the Usability.
    4. I self use often the Tethering Hotspot of my MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite to connect my iPhone 6 via WLAN with Internet. I use for my MacBook RJ45 LAN Internet Connection with Apple Ethernet Adaptor. So if i enable the WLAN Sync with 1Password it works for the session. If i go out of Office/Home and come later back i need to press on iOS App "Change WLAN Sync" Button and choose again my listened MacBook to refresh my data with WLAN Sync.
    5. Then a friend of me has the BlackBerry Z10 with BB10 OS. It works fine because BlackBerry supports Android APK. I installed Snap and installed from there 1Password by Android (works like a Google Play Store and keep your Apps updated). It works perfect but with Dropbox Sync you need a another Browser instead of BlackBerry Browser like the Dropbox 1Password Verify. I used here simple one-time the Opera Mini Browser for BlackBerry. That is only as Information for you and others which use BlackBerry Z10 Series or other BB10 devices.

    Hi @neofelis,

Thank you so much for all the feedback & suggestions! I can't make any promises of course, but I can certainly pass that all along to our developers. We're a bit limited when it comes to using 1Password for Android on a BlackBerry device, so I'm sure your information will be helpful for others in the same situation.

    Thanks again! :)

I would like to second the request for having a Today widget on iOS. It's the one and only feature of Authy that I'm missing after having switched to 1Password for doing 2FA (well, 2SV). Ideally we'd have a special list (like the Favorites one) for picking accounts to be shown in the widget. When tapped this would launch a browser (Safari / 1Password) logging in to the default website... this would be GREAT!

  • Thanks for the suggestion. As you may be aware multi-step authentication is a new feature to 1Password, so we definitely hope to expand its usefulness as we progress.

Also, FWIW, it isn't actually "two factor" authentication if you store both the password and OTP in the same place, it is "multi-step" or "two step" authentication. For it to be considered multi-factor the credentials would have to be stored in physically separate places (e.g. one in your memory and one on your phone).

...hence my comment in brackets about two-step verification. Much like GNU's Not Unix, 2SV is not 2FA :)

Thanks for the great work, the one time passwords feature dropped out of nowhere - cab only hope now for the today widget to follow suit ;)
