Want to delete free version

So I'm ready to make a purchase for Mac, but i would first like to delete my 1P on my free iOS version. The reason being is i want to change the password, and read somewhere on the forum (can't find it) that your first master password is used as some sort of strength factor for 1P (not very technical I know). I know how to delete the app from iPad and iPhone but I know the app and data still resides somewhere on the cloud. I want to wipe out the app and all stored information. Thanks for help.

  • Hi @safety1,

Were you syncing your data with either iCloud or Dropbox?

Please let us know. We'd be happy to help you accomplish this.

    Hi @safety1,

Thanks! To make sure I understand, are you sure you want to delete all your 1Password data and start over from scratch? If you want to keep your data, but would like to re-encrypt it with a stronger master password, we can help you to do that (just stop here and let us know). On the other hand, if you don't need to save any of your current data, you can continue with my steps below.

Before deleting 1Password from your iOS devices, you can delete your 1Password data from iCloud by following these steps:

    • Open 1Password and go to Sync > Sync Service > Disable Sync (confirm you want to disable it).
    • Go to Settings > Advanced > Erase iCloud Data (confirm you want to Reset iCloud Data).
    • When you see a message confirming iCloud data has been reset, tap OK.

If you want to delete all your 1Password data stored locally on your iOS devices, you can either delete & reinstall the 1Password app, or you can keep it installed and follow these steps on each device:

    • Open 1Password and go to Settings > Advanced > Erase Data and Settings, then confirm you want to do that.
    • When you see the message confirming the data is deleted, tap Quit.

I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have any questions about that.

    Hi @safety1,

I'm glad to hear that worked, and that you'll be purchasing the Mac version of 1Password! :)

Just to let you know, the web store version of 1Password 5 for Mac also has the Wi-Fi sync option (as well as Dropbox sync). But if you want to use iCloud sync, you'll definitely need to get the Mac App Store version.

If you have more questions, just let us know.
