Demo Mode Removed?

I do not see how to enable demo mode on iOS 1Password 5.2. An online page said it's under Settings :: Advanced, but I didn't see it, and suspect that may have been for an old device.

I found that option In the settings under Vaults --> Sync Additional Vault. The next screen includes the option to Create Demo Vault.

Thanks @hawkmoth for chiming in. This is absolutely correct: in settings > Vaults > Sync Additional Vault the demo vault can be created.

  • Thank you @hawkmoth ! That helps much! Curious, however: if I hand my device to somebody to explore, could they then use settings to switch them back to my primary vault without being prompted for the password? Can it require the master password if they switch back? Else I can demo it for them, or simply watch as they explore, so that they don't change vaults.

  • Additionally @Winnie and @hawkmoth I noticed if I switch the vault to the demo mode, and then open 1Browser (to simulate Safari; by the way, I like it this way more than with the extension in regular Safari, but I see the benefit to the extension) I noticed that it shows options for both vaults. Should that be the case? Pick a site where both vaults have a login and then see the Key in the 1Browser and it shows all login options. Would it not show for only the active/selected vault? Or is this an exception because of the demo mode? Or was nobody expecting 1Browser to be opened while in Demo mode?

  • Hi @chazzunokuthunuchtec ,

The primary vault remains unlocked. Once you enter your master password, all vaults are unlocked. When using demo mode, you should supervise the person using it. It was designed for the owner to demo the product without having to show your personal data, but not necessarily to hand it to someone to use unsupervised.

That's an interesting point about 1Browser showing all logins, I'll see that gets looked into.
