Migrating from Web version to App Store version
Hello,
recently I purchased a copy of 1Password through the website, but then I realised I cannot use iCloud to sync my vaults. Reading through the FAQs on the subject, it appears that to use iCloud I have to buy another copy of the software from the App Store. Is that correct?
I really like the app, but I think it's a bit unfair to ask a customer to buy twice the same software... Is there really no other way to migrate from one version to the other, free of charges for customers who bought either the Web or App Store version?
Kind Regards,
Val

What is "recent"? If you bought in the last thirty days, you can get a refund and can then buy the App Store version.
Or you can decide to keep the website version, and use Dropbox to sync, which many people do, but might not suit you.
Unfortunately Apple decided to change things so that iCloud sync cannot be provided in the website version, it was not AgileBits decision.
Agile do specifically say that you need the App Store version if you want iCloud sync. But I think they could give one or two extra warnings as well as the warnings they already give.

Hi Danco,
thank you for your comment. I did indeed buy 1Password within the last 30 days, so I followed your suggestion and asked if it's possible to have a refund. At the moment I'm using Dropbox for syncing, but I'd rather use iCloud.
I should have been more careful when purchasing the software... I didn't immediately spot the small print that said only the App Store version allows the use of iCloud. Though I concur with you that an extra warning could be useful, especially for absent minded folk like me! ;-)
Cheers,
Valerio

I have the same issue but my request for a refund have been unsuccessful

@franco9142 - When did you request a refund? If you post the support ticket ID that you would have received in the automated email reply, it would help the AgileBits people locate your request. You sill indeed get your refund, so long as your request arrived before the 30 day money-back period expired.

Hi @valerio,
I apologize for the confusion here with respect to iCloud. I've located your license information in our back office records and refunded your purchase price for 1Password 5. You may now purchase from the Mac App Store and take advantage of iCloud sync.
We have a couple of articles in our Use Guide that can help you as you transition from the webstore version to the Mac App Store version:
I'd recommend switching your version first, and then your sync. Of course, if you run into any snags in the process, we're happy to help!

Hi @Megan,
I do apologise for the very late reply to your post!... Your colleague Rob told me via email that you replied to my post and refunded the price for the Web version. I will follow the instructions on the links you suggested. Thank you very much for your help.
Kind Regards,
Valerio

HI @Megan,
thank you, I changed my notification settings, so now I will receive emails. The switch went smoothly and now I can use iCloud.
I have one more question for you: why can I only sync my primary vault on iCloud, and not all of my vaults?
Thanks,
Valerio

why can I only sync my primary vault on iCloud, and not all of my vaults?
1P iCloud sync does not currently support sync of multiple vaults. To do that you need to use either Dropbox or local wifi sync (both of which are, of course, supported by your version of 1P).

Hi @valerio,
I'm so glad to hear that the switch went smoothly for you! As Stephen_C says, at this time, iCloud is only available for the primary vault. This is partly because iCloud has limited sharing capabilities: one of the coolest things about multiple vaults is the ability to share your data selectively with family and co-workers, and iCloud doesn't permit sharing bits of data between iCloud accounts. If you have multiple vaults, you'll want to keep them all synced up with Dropbox.
