1Password is detecting an update is available but can't download the update

Hi,

My computer is detecting a download is available, but the the download can't be completed (according to the progress bar, it never starts). I;ve tried to download a few times now, including after a fresh re-boot of the computer.

My Mac Mini 2012 is running 10.10.2. It has previously always downloaded the updates without issue. My internet connection is definitely working as it tries to download the update.

Any suggestions how to resolve this?

Many thanks.

Try clicking on Cancel then on Try Again. I've found that usually works if I have the same problem as you.

I have tried that now for a number of times over this last week. Get a message that the system has timed out and no downloading takes place

  • Hi @Padaung & @FrankH ,

Are you running any kind of software like Little Snitch or anything that could be intercepting network requests?

  • Hi @Padaung & @FrankH,

I've been advised by a co-worker that you should try doing a full quit of the app (hold down the Control key while going to the 1Password menu, and you should see "Quit 1Password and 1Password mini"). Relaunch, and try again. This may flush a couple more caches and do a better retry than otherwise.

  • Are you in the UK by chance? It looks like we've got issues with our CDN for some users in the UK. Here's a forum thread with more info.

Hi folks, thanks for your replies and suggestions.

Clicking Cancel and then trying again does not work. I've tried that a few times out of optimism!
Nope, I'm not running Little Snitch or anything similar.
I've just tried to update after holding Ctrl and selecting quit 1Password and 1Password Mini to clear the program cache. The update will still not download.
Yes, I'm in the UK. I'll head to the forum you linked to now.

Thanks, fingers crossed the forum thread has a solution :)

Update, by applying a combo of the suggestions the download has worked.

After quitting using Ctrl 'quit 1Password and 1Password mini', upon restarting 1Password the update failed to download the first time, but after it timed out and clicking Try Again, this time it worked!

    Installation now done.

Once again, thanks for your help.

    Hi @Padaung,

I'm glad to hear it finally worked! Strange that it took two attempts after quitting 1Password & 1Password mini and relaunching, but good to know it's working now. Thanks for following up to let us know! :)

@FrankH, are you still having trouble downloading the update? If so, have you tried the suggestions from rickfillion and Padaung?
