How often will we need to upgrade?

I see there are upgrade licenses for sale. I'm trying to decide if 1Password makes sense for me; if I buy a full license (from the App Store lets say) for how long will I get updates? $50 is a lot to swallow especially if I'm going to have to re-buy an upgrade license sometime down the road.

    AgileBits make no guarantees about grades. But in practice paid upgrades are rare, for instance the upgrade from version 4 to version 5 was free, though the upgrade from 3 to 4 was paid. Version 3 still works in Yosemite.

    And old versions do not expire, though an upgrade to Mac OS might require an upgrade to 1PW, and also new features may only work in upgrades.
