Drop box sync problem

I have written to dropbox about this but a few days later got a reply saying they are too busy to reply, ever!
I am syncing 2 macs (work and home) and my iPhone 5s via dropbox.
The 2 macs are syncing perfectly, but the iPhone is not. Looking at the iPhone Dropbox 1Password file it shows as last updated about 3 weeks ago, even though files have changed since that time.
The strange thing is that the web version of Dropbox also is showing the same old file date.
How can the 2 macs be syncing ok over the internet but not the Dropbox web view or the iPhone.
I have tried stopping the sync then totally deleting Dropbox from my phone, re-installing Dropbox and re-syncing many times. Have rebooted the iPhone many times too.
I am at a loss as to where to go next.
I would sync with iCloud instead but my mac at work uses a different iCloud account, will it still work?
Thanks
IOS 8.1.3 Mac OS 10.10.2 (on both macs)

    Hi @lengold,

Sadly iCloud will not be an option for you. There is no way at the moment to share any files between iCloud accounts. Even if Apple allowed some form of sharing of iCloud Drive that would not help our 1Password users because we use CloudKit for syncing. CloudKit is the sync framework for iCloud but it doesn't show up if you view the storage space of iCloud Drive.

So lets look at Dropbox and see if we can get that working.

The first nugget of information that may very well be applicable is the .agilekeychain is actually a file bundle. It's a special way on a Mac of treating a folder as a single entity. In Dropbox though it looks like a simple folder. Now I mention that because if we change the contents of a folder that doesn't have to impact on the timestamp for the folder itself. So there is a reason why an old timestamp is possible.

So lets gain a better idea of where we stand. Is there any changed or new information in 1Password on your iPhone? If it came down to it could we wipe 1Password on your iPhone and force a rsync if necessary. I'm not saying we would have to but it's good to know where we stand before proceeding.

If the answer is there is nothing unique in your 1Password vault on your iPhone compared to your Macs then we can continue with the troubleshooting.

As a sanity measure, can you create a test item on each Mac and the iPhone. If syncing between the Macs is indeed working as you believe it is then the Macs should see each other's test item. Do either of the Macs pick up on the iPhone test item and does the iPhone see either of the Macs? This is just to confirm where we stand.

Once we know the details of the above we can continue trying to figure out what has happened. I'm surprised (saddened) to hear Dropbox state they are too busy to ever respond but we will continue working with you until we get some kind of resolution.

Hello Littlebobbytables - thank you very much for responding. I didn't receive an email notification and assumed that no one had responded.
Well, the surprising thing is that a test backwards and forwards from my iPhone to one of the macs is now working. I can't test the other mac until I get home.
It looks like it might have fixed itself?
The same tests did not work when I first opened this forum. I just looked at the web version of Dropbox and it is still showing old modification dates. So, it looks like, as you say, those dates are misleading.
Hopefully all fixed now and I will test later with the other mac.
    Thanks again.

    Hi @lengold,

On behalf of @littlebobbytables, you're very welcome! I'm not sure why the sync wasn't working on your iPhone before, but fortunately it sounds like it's ok now - though of course you'll be able to tell for sure once you get home and check your Mac there. If for any reason you're still having trouble with that, or if you need anything else, we're always happy to help! :)

That's great Drew thank you. Have now had a chance to check the 2nd mac and all ok, thanks for the excellent support.

@lengold - You can set your notification preferences in the forum by editing your profile. You can choose to get email under a variety of conditions, including whenever someone comments on a thread in which you have made a post. Click on your name at the top of the forum when you are signed in, find the dropdown menu at the far right side of the next screen, and select the option to Edit Profile. The list on the left side of the next page includes the place to edit your notification preferences.
