Hi,
I'm trying to sync my iPhone 6 plus device with 1 password 4 for windows. It starts syncing and after waiting for a long time this message pops up:
1 password incorrect response received. Expected 'auth' received 'sync'

iPhone 6 plus with ios 8.1.2
1 password for windows 4.1.0.538

I appreciate any help,

Yannis

@yannisp, in moving this to the 1Password for iOS forum, where it will get the attention of folks with greater knowledge of that platform, I ask that you let us know which version of 1Password for iOS you're running on your iPhone.

    Thanks!

Thank you @DBrown I'm running version 5.2 on my iPhone. Any suggestions?

    Hi @yannisp,

I'm sorry you're having some trouble with Wi-Fi sync! Was this previously working between your iPhone and Windows PC, or are you trying to get this set up for the first time? If you haven't previously been able to use Wi-Fi sync, please make sure you set it up by following the steps here.

If you're able to set up Wi-Fi sync, but the sync doesn't complete and gives you that error, can you confirm you still have the Wi-Fi sync window open in 1Password for Windows? That needs to remain open for the sync to work.

If it's still a problem, try restarting your PC and your iPhone, then try the sync again. Does it make any difference?

Thank you for your suggestions @Drew_AG . I was able to setup the Wifi sync, I left the sync window open at all times and after some minutes the message appears. Also I have already restarted my PC AND iPhone but no success....

    Hi @yannisp,

I'm not a Windows user myself but I have seen that message a few times when I sync between my Mac and iOS device. In those instances though it's never stopped the Wi-Fi Sync from proceeding.

It might be worth disabling Wi-Fi Sync on both your iOS device and your Windows machine and then reinitialising it. You would think a reboot would have a similar impact but sometimes it's hard to predict.

Meanwhile I'll see if I can use a virtual machine for testing. One aspect I am aware of is that Wi-Fi Sync in Windows is pretty new from all accounts. If you have no objections to Dropbox you would probably find that a much more robust syncing method but I would understand if you don't.

@littlebobbytables thank you for the suggestion. I have already done that (disabling /enabling wifi sync on both devices) with no success.

    Hi @yannisp,

Okay, slightly more desperate then. Is there anything on your iOS device that isn't on your Windows machine? If there isn't, if a copy of everything is on your Windows machine then I wonder if there is any difference at all if you take the more extreme path of removing the 1Password for iOS app completely from your iPhone and then re-install it? If there are items or changes on your iPhone though please do not do this as removing the app completely removes all data associated with the app.

@littlebobbytables Thank you for the last advice. I completely removed the app from the iPhone and reinstalled it. The first sync went ok although I had to wait about 5 min for the sync to be completed. I will follow up and see if the sync process will continue to work OK.

    Thanks for the help :-)

    That's great to hear @yannisp,

Yeah, the first sync can take a while depending on the size of the vault in question. Still, 5 minutes seems a while unless you have one crazy sized vault. Regardless I'll take that as a win for the moment. Hopefully subsequent syncs go smoothly and you're not troubled by that annoying message again (or at least not in a way that stops syncing altogether).

Fingers crossed it's all good from now on.
