Hi @ronhurley,
Please try this:
- Request your license file to be resent to your email address from the top left of this page: https://agilebits.com/support
- When you get the email, click on the click here to automatically add your license like in this screenshot:
See if 1Password will be registered afterward.
If not, go back to the email and click on the View the complete installation steps under the registration link.
If neither helps, please let me know.

Thanks. Got the license to work. However:
- Even tho' I quit 1password (Ver 3 or 5) the extension is still active. If I restart the computer the extension will ask for the Master Password. But will remain active after that.
- The data in the extension is current with my Ver. 3.8.22, not Ver 5.
- I tried to uninstall the extension but the Safari extension window does not recognize the extension. (I followed the instruction per Agile Support).
- How do I uninstall my Ver. 3.8.22 and the extension?
Appreciate the help.

Hi @ronhurley,
Just before we continue it might be a good idea to just verify a couple of thing as it sounds like you situation is a lot more complex than your first post indicated to us.
So you were running 1Password 3 and you've upgraded to Yosemite at some point and now wish to run 1Password 5.
Prior to launching 1Password 5, did you have both the 1Password 3 browser extension in Safari and the 1Password 3 application and were the two of the in sync? I ask because if it was possible to use the extension for a prolonged period of time without the main application. This could result in the extension database containing items that weren't in your main .agilekeychain.
Now I ask this because of your second statement where you said:
The data in the extension is current with my Ver. 3.8.22, not Ver 5.
If you have items in your 1Password 3 browser extension that are not in the vault in 1Password 5 then please do not uninstall the extension. Doing so would delete the extension's database and they would be lost forever.
I don't want to alarm you but neither do I want you to lose anything so if you can let us know a little more about your situation then we can work out the best course of action.

I'm getting a little over my head here, but I'll give it a go.
I've found and deleted the extension in Safari.
The extension still appears in the "Mac Bar"? The bar that has current time, WiFi signal etc.
This extension will not turn off without a restart.
My Ver 5 data, in 1password5 is up-to-date and correct. The data in the extension in the Bar represents data in my Ver 3 that I have not used for some time.
My data in 1Password 3.8.22 is not important, because 1Password5 has the up-to-date data.
When I go to Systems Preferences, Extensions the 1Password extension does not appear there.
Also, to make you feel more secure, I have up-to-date Password files on my IPad.
I am comfortable Ver 5 is now working. Thanks.0 -
Hi @ronhurley,
Sorry for any confusion about all this! I think I understand what you're saying, and I can help to clear up a few things:
The 1Password icon you see in your Mac's menu bar is what we call 1Password mini. It is different than the 1Password browser extension (although they look the same) so it will not show up in your browser's list of extensions. You shouldn't try to disable 1Password mini because it needs to stay running in order for the (new) 1Password browser extension to work in your web browser. For more information about 1Password mini, you can check out this User Guide article.
It sounds like you've already deleted the 1Password 3 extension from Safari, which is fine. Also, if you have all your up-to-date data in 1Password 5, you can delete the 1Password 3 app by dragging it to the Trash (do not use any app cleaning utilities to delete any other files, as you could lose important 1Password data).
If you haven't already done so, you can install the new 1Password extension by opening the 1Password 5 app and going to the menu for 1Password > Install Browser Extensions. That should open a site in Safari where you can click the big green Install button, then follow the on-screen steps to complete the installation. The 1Password extension will then appear in the toolbar of Safari (again, it will look just like the 1Password mini icon in the Mac's menu bar).
I hope this helps! If you have more questions about that, we're always glad to help, so just let us know. :)
