Make the list items appear in the same order on Mac and iOS
Hi folks,
A minor irritation but it plays with my muscle memory. Why don't the items in the list of item types appear in the same order across the Mac and iOS versions (and perhaps Windows too, I don't use the Windows version of the app)? e.g. Bank Accounts are 6th in the list but I think second last on iOS. Has me looking in the wrong place fairly often!
Cheers,
Tom

Hi @smallcheese,
They should as long as the desktop apps are sorted by title.
I tested my data and they showed up exactly the same order on both platforms.
Are you referring to the categories list, not the items list? If yes, the order of the categories are not sync'ed across platforms. You have to manually sort them on each platform. To sort on your iOS devices, tap on Edit in the Categories view and sort them the way you want it to be.
Also, since this isn't related to the betas, I've moved this to the general iOS forum.

Sorry yes I was referring to the categories list. Since I've never changed the order of the lists it's about is that they are not the same across platforms, is there a good reason why the default is not the same?

I can't give you a good answer @smallcheese, it may very well turn out there is no reason they don't for a reason than nobody thought about it at the time. I'm not saying that is the reason, merely it may not have been considered as one of the requirements when they were coding both platforms. I do know they share a certain amount of code though so in a way it's also curious that they don't have the same ordering. It would require asking the devs (who may not have been the ones that worked on that at the time) if there is a reason.
At least MikeT's post has a way of resolving this. Now just to warn you that if you customise the ordering I'd probably recommend the iOS device to do so. We're working on a couple of bugs relating to custom ordering on the Mac where it isn't being remembered so I'd rather you don't fall into that one.
Let us know what you think.
