New Vault on Mac doesn't push to PC

So I got the newsletter "1Password Learns the Two Step" from Dave Teare and decided to move my work items into their own vault. Following the instructions linked in the newsletter I moved a boatload of logins and other items into a "work" vault. This is on a Mac with the latest o/s and the AppStore version of 1Password.

When I get to work and open up 1Password on my PC, all I see is my "home" vault with nothing to indicate where the "work" vault went to, how to open it or anything. SO I had to restore from a backup and I am back where I started.

Did I do something wrong?

Did you separately set up syncing for the secondary vault? It won't move unless you do so.

    Hi @thrint,

As hawkmoth has pointed out, synching of vaults is per vault. If you create a second vault you will then need to manually set up syncing as we do not make assumptions about what you would like to do with your data. The process is just like setting up syncing of your primary so it shouldn't feel too onerous to complete and like syncing of your primary, once it has been set up that's all you need to do.

The Sync tab in 1Password for Mac's preferences has changed in version 5.1 so I'm going to link you to our Sync with Dropbox (Mac) guide. Multiple vaults in Windows are different from our Mac version of 1Password. Instead of one Master Password unlocking all the vaults you'll find you need to switch which .agilekeychain is active, I believe from the File drop down menu.

If you have any follow up questions do please ask away

So, in doing this I made the assumption (wrongly) that it would sync along with my first vault. Possibly I should have read a little farther in the guide... (sigh...) Regardless. I restored my vault from backup on my PC at work and can use the original vault on my work PC but it seems that change did not push to1Password on my phone, I have now only the "home" vault on my iPhone and when I search for "Open Second Vault" on your knowledgebase, I got nothing...

So I guess I need to know how to revert all three devices (my PC at work done, my iphone and Mac --at home-- not so much) to the same vault on dropbox that the PC is using. as (at least) the iPhone only knows about my home (original) vault

    Hi @thrint,

It should actually be quite simple to keep your home and work data in separate vaults and sync both vaults between Mac, Windows, and iOS, so we'll be happy to help you do that. Or if you'd rather go back to having all your data (both home and work) in a single vault on all three, we can do that too. However, I'm not sure I understand which one you prefer - do you want your data in separate home & work vaults, or do you want all data in a single vault?

I'm also a bit confused about how your 1Password data is currently set up on Mac, Windows, and iOS right now. Do you still have 2 vaults set up on your Mac (i.e. home info in Primary vault, work info in secondary vault)? If so, and you want to sync both vaults to Windows and iOS, just follow these steps:

    On your Mac:

    • Open 1Password and go to 1Password > Preferences in the menu bar, then choose the Sync tab.
    • Choose your Primary ("home") vault on the left side and make sure it is still set to sync with Dropbox.
    • Choose your secondary ("work") vault on the left side.
    • Select Dropbox from the drop-down menu, then click the Choose button.
    • Choose your main Dropbox folder and click Open.
    • Click Create New when you see the message about creating a vault in Dropbox.

This will create a new keychain file in the Dropbox/1Password/ folder, and the name of the vault will be in the keychain name. For example, if the secondary vault is called "work" the new keychain will be "work.agilekeychain". To sync & use that vault on Windows and iOS, follow these steps:

    On Windows:

    • Open 1Password and go to File > Open 1Password Vault.
    • Find and select the .agilekeychain folder for your work vault in Dropbox, then click OK.
    • Enter the master password for your work vault to unlock it.

    On your iPhone:

    • Open 1Password and go to Settings > Vaults.
    • Tap the Add Vault option and choose Sync with Dropbox.
    • When you see your Dropbox account name, tap on the name (do not tap on the 'i' icon).
    • Choose the .agilekeychain file for your work vault.
    • Enter the master password for your work vault when prompted.

I hope this helps, but please let us know if you have questions about that or run into problems following those steps. Thanks!
