Mac App Store application says trial expired
I purchased this through the app store as the title describes and recently had to replace my hard drive. Sensing a fresh install would be nice after several years of updates I proceeded and went to the App Store to reinstall my purchases. Now 1Password says my trial has expired. I have the receipt for my purchase but it appears that something has gone screwy. Can you help me?

Since there aren't any trial versions offered through the Mac App Store, you shouldn't be getting a trial expired notice. You should have been able to download a new copy without charge if you were logged in under the same Apple ID as you originally used to buy your license.
Have you seen the top post in this section of the forum, about unexpected trial expired notices. The link is here. Does that post help? Let us know.

Hi @macawm,
When you re-downloaded 1Password you definitely did so via Apple's App Store application in OS X and you didn't download a copy from our AgileBits Download page?
If you launch 1Password and go to 1Password > About 1Password does it say Agile Web Store or Mac App Store? If it says Agile Web Store then you must have downloaded directly from our site which would explain the trial expired message.
The link supplied by hawkmoth will sort you out if that is the case as it covers the situation of the users unknowingly running the wrong version.
Let us know how you get along.

Here's the situation as I see it. My currently installed version is 5.1 (Agile Web Store) but I don't recall installing this from the web store. My receipt from Apple reads 1Password - Password Manager and Secure Wallet, v3.9.6, but it is not listed in my "Purchases" tab of the App Store. I assume this is because version 3.x.y has been pulled from the store and replaced with newer a version. I'm stuck. Do I pay an upgrade price or what?

Hi @macawm,
Thanks for the additional information! If the copy of 1Password on your Mac says it is the Agile Web Store version, that definitely means you downloaded it from our site, and you'll need to reinstall the Mac App Store version instead.
If you bought version 3 from the Mac App Store, the latest version is a free upgrade, so that shouldn't be a problem. But if you don't see 1Password listed in the Purchases section of the Mac App Store, you might be signed in with the wrong Apple ID. You'll need to sign in with the same Apple ID you used to purchase 1Password from the Mac App Store, and then you should see it in Purchases.
Does this help? If you're still having trouble trying to reinstall 1Password from the Mac App Store, please let us know. Thanks!

I figured it out finally. Somehow the purchase was set to hidden. From the App Store: Store -> View My Account, then in the Hidden Items section 'Manage'. From here I was able to unhide the purchase and install it normally. Consider adding this additional info to the big "Trial Expired notice in 1Password 5 for Mac?" thread. Thanks for all the help.

Hi @macawm,
That's great, I'm glad you were able to get that sorted out! Thanks for letting us know how you did that. You're right, it's probably a good idea to add that information somewhere. It isn't something that seems to happen too often, but can cause a lot of confusion when it does.
If you need more help with 1Password, we're here for you! :)
