Syncing a second vault

So I created a second vault on my Mac with a whole different set of logins. My primary vault syncs with Dropbox so I have access with my other devices. I noticed on my phone I could not see the second vault I had created. Looking at the 1Password preferences on Mac I notice my second vault shows 'None' for 'Sync vault with'. So I select Dropbox and it asks me to look for the folder to sync with. The problem is it is asking me to MERGE with my primary vault.

My question is will this merge add all the logins from my secondary vault with my primary ... or will it just add the secondary vault as a separate vault?

  • Hi @tagarski,

Good thing you decided to take the time to ask this. You most definitely do not want to do that Merge. When you initially setup Dropbox sync on a device it'll create the agilekeychain file for you at a default location, usually either Dropbox/Apps/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain, or Dropbox/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain. In this case, what you want to do, is that when you select Dropbox from the dropdown list on the Mac, don't just select your dropbox folder. Select a specific folder within your Dropbox folder. Maybe create a new folder inside of the 1Password folder it created. Name it something appropriate for your secondary vault. When you do this, 1Password should propose that you Create New instead of Merge. This is what you want.

Then on the iOS devices you add a vault and it should list the vaults it finds on Dropbox, and you should see this new agilekeychain listed.
