Touch ID to open 1P 5.2

I set up the touch ID for 1P on my IOS 8.
I have noticed that after opening 1P with the touch ID, and closing it with the Home button, I can't open 1P again. It doesn't ask me for touch ID or pw. It only appears the 1P icon on the top of the grey screen.
I can open again 1P with the touch ID oly if I close the application swiping it off.

If I open 1P with the pw, it works fine.

Is it a bug, or am I doing anything wrong?

It's a bug. I don't remember whether it's an iOS or a 1Password bug, though. It's happening to some users, but I cant remember seeing a report from someone who has this happen all the time. I have seen it once in awhile, but not very often.

Your work around of forcing the app to quit and reopening is what works for now, until this gets fixed.

  • Hi @karlpipp ,

I can confirm it is an iOS bug and has been reported to Apple. hawkmoth's workaround is the best answer we can give at this time.

I am having the same problem but I am not convinced it is an IOS bug completely. This only happens with 1Password. I use touchID for other applications and they all properly request touchID auth after being locked and reopened. Are you sure this is an iOS bug?

I can reliably reproduce this issue, and I'm inclined to believe that Agilebits should be able to fix it:

When first opening 1Password, if I hold my thumb on the TouchID sensor before the app asks until after it does, it will eventually freeze. (iPhone 6+, iOS8). I am able to resume without force quitting the application by pressing the lock button and then opening the app again.

I have many applications that use TouchID on start-up, none of them have this particular issue, I really don't think this is an iOS problem, I think this is some mis-use of the TouchID API.

  • Hello,

We've been through the code several times and are certain it is an iOS bug. The bug has been seen on other apps but they may not be the apps you use. The API is actually quite simple and there's little room for misuse. There's nothing to gain by "passing the buck" and we would like this fixed as soon as possible.
