Update, retrieving license

I have bought the 1password in 2013 via the iTunes store for my mac. I am trying to perform the updates but I ma not allowed. Also I do not have the license number, as I never got it from iTunes and my email is not recognized when I go through the Agilebits website to retrieve the license. I am concerned that I may lose all my data. All this is rather frustrating. Assistance please?

    @charstra I have moved your post to the 1P for Mac forum, where you will obtain more help.

    I am assuming you are running 1P on your Mac at present. If so, please go to 1P > About 1Password and tell us exactly what it says there.

    1P for Mac is available either direct from the AgileBits store (in which case it's updated from there) or from the Mac App Store (not the iTunes App Store, which is for iOS apps).

    If we take this slowly we'll be able to sort out matters for you, I'm sure.

    First of all, let me assure you that you will not lose your data due to a licensing issue. We never lock users out of their data - because that's just not cool.

    As Stephen_C says, we'd love a bit more detail here to get a better idea of where things are getting tangled up. The 'About 1Password' dialog should give you both a version number, and the place that you downloaded the app from. This will be a great start. Please note that if you did purchase 1Password for Mac from the App Store, you won't receive a license number, as Apple keeps all license details simply attached to your AppleID.

    Please also let us know a bit more about what happens when you try to update. You mention that you're not allowed to. Are you seeing an error message?
