iCloud Drive will not enable for 1Password
Hi, I have bought and installed 1Password 5 from the App Store. The version that I am running checks out as being from the App Store. the software is running on an iMac with OSX 10.10.2 I want to sync via iCloud with my iOS 8 device and my laptop. When I go to 1Password>Preferences>Sync and select iCloud from the drop down list, it tells me that iCloud is not available. In OSX>Preferences>iCloud the iCloud Drive box is checked. Under the Options button, the box for 1Password mini.app is checked, but there is no box for 1Password itself. Can you help?
One fact that might be relevant is that I first installed 1Password from the web store, before realising I needed the App store version to have iCloud sync. I deleted the webstore version and bought the App store one, but the new version still finds the vault that I initially created.
I would really appreciate your help.
Rgds

Does this knowledge base article on migrating from the web store to the app store version help at all?

Stephen, Thanks for your suggestion. I used that article to go through the process of switching. I have just checked and the app in my applications folder is called "1Password", no number 5, so is the correct one. Its just that OSX does not seem to be recognising it as something that iCloud works with. Should I see boxes for both the 1Password and mini apps in the iCloud drive options?

Hi @JeremyE,
I'm sorry iCloud sync is giving you some trouble! From your description, it sounds like things are set up correctly (in the iCloud Drive options, it's normal to see 1Password mini.app, just make sure it's checked).
If 1Password is giving you the “iCloud is not available” error message, please take a look at this knowledgebase article to see if it helps. It sounds like you have already checked for the things mentioned there, but it couldn't hurt to go through the few steps there to be sure.
If that doesn't help, you can try this:
- In 1Password, go to 1Password > Preferences > Sync
- On the Sync tab, change the sync method from iCloud to None
- Go to the menu for Help > Troubleshooting > Reset iCloud Data
- Read the warning and click Yes, Remove Data
Once you've done that, try enabling iCloud sync again. Does it make any difference, or do you still get the same error?

Hi Drew
I still get the same error message. A couple of other bits of info: On the sync tab the setting is at "none" all the time, as it will not go to "icloud". When I select "enable" the first time, nothing happens. When I select it again, 1Password crashes. In the Troubleshooting submenu, when I click "Remove..." it comes up with a the same message again, which disappears after the second press.I have tried restarting the iMac.

Hi Drew
I think the problem is with OSX. When I select iCloud Drive in Finder, it tells me to turn on iCloud Drive, even though the check box is ticked in System Preferences. I have signed out and signed in again - just waiting for the iCloud Drive to finish setting up, which seems to be taking a long time.0 -
Hi @JeremyE,
It seems you're reading my mind, as the things you've tried are what I would have suggested! :)
So, I agree this sounds like a problem with iCloud Drive on your Mac. Hopefully it works correctly once it finishes setting itself up again, and if so, try enabling iCloud sync in 1Password again to see if there's any difference. Let us know how it works out for you - I hope that takes care of the problem!
