The option to use icloud sync isn't available. I read about the need for the app store version. How do I get that version without paying again?

If you bought 1P5 from the AgileBits store within the past 30 days you can obtain a refund to enable you to buy the Mac App Store version. If you didn't buy within that period I'm afraid you won't be able to obtain a refund.

If you did buy within the 30 day period please confirm here and someone will tell you how to apply for the refund.

I would like to suggest you compensate users, ( like myself) who through no fault of our own, chose to obtain 1Password directly from AgileBits, instead of the App Store. I have always tried to support companies like yours, however, to fork out another $49.95 simply to incorporate 1 feature is a stretch, to say the least. I like DropBox, but I would feel more secure with iCloud.
Please reconsider your somewhat, in my humble opinion, obtuse stance that seems to punish customers for what was likely your error.

I should perhaps have made it clear that I'm not employed by AgileBits but am merely a volunteer on the forums here trying to help those who have questions.

While I'm sorry for any confusion and disappointment on your part I can't really agree with your comment about an:

obtuse stance that seems to punish customers for what was likely your error.

I don't think there was any "error" on the part of AgileBits. When Apple launched OS X Yosemite they simply made it impossible for non-App Store apps to use iCloud. AgileBits had always made it clear that might one day happen and if you buy 1P from the AgileBits store this is what you see:

You'll see it mentions specifically that the Mac App Store version is required if you want to use iCloud sync.

    Hi @boreal321 & @mdeh,

More on this particular topic can be found in Dave Teare's announcement, iCloud Changes in the Website Version of 1Password 5.

I quite understand not wishing to pay again for the full product if you already have an existing licence. We didn't want to be in this position and nor do we want unhappy customers. I haven't been with the company for long but one thing I know from everything I've witnessed is they are about the customers. Now you may find that hard to believe given your current situation and I can understand that scepticism too. Unfortunately it simply wasn't feasible to help everybody that was affected by this change when Apple started to enforce the restrictions surrounding iCloud. I think it's best to read what Dave said.

All users no matter where they purchased it from have access to Dropbox as cloud service and Wi-Fi Sync. I choose not to use a cloud service at all so I'm a Wi-Fi Sync person myself and our devs worked hard recently to make it even better by syncing secondary vaults too, a feature only previously available to Dropbox. As far as security goes, most of the people here at AgileBits use Dropbox (I'm the oddity) but sync preferences seem to create strong divides so I understand if you don't want to use Dropbox.
