Syncing new MacBook to 1Password already installed on iMac

I just installed 1Password on a new MacBook and am ready to sync to 1Password that I've had on my iMac for a year. When I launch 1Password and click on "I've used 1Password before" and select "another device" and click on "more information," I'm taken to https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac/4/en/topic/getting-started-again-on-a-new-different-computer. There are no instructions or links to help complete the process. At the end of this page are there links missing links (on iCloud, Dropbox, This Mac) in the last sentence? I can't get beyond the dialog box shown on the attached screen shot.

Thanks for any assistance!

What versions of 1P are you running and what are your OS X version numbers, please? I suspect that reference to these two knowledge base articles may clarify matters for you:

    The AgileBits iCloud FAQ

The Web store and iCloud FAQ

Note also that you can't currently use wifi sync to sync 1P data directly between two Macs.

    Hi @LisaPadgett,

I apologize for the missing link, it should've taken you to the next part of the guide, which is the Sync guide here: https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac/4/en/topic/sync-guide

Can you tell us if you plan to sync your 1Password data between your iMac and Macbook? If yes, which sync option do you want to use? The guide above will explain the various options you have; iCloud, Dropbox, and Folder Sync.

I'll file a request to fix our docs by inserting that link, thanks for reaching out to us about it.

Thank you both for the helpful info. I updated to 1PW 5 on the iMac and iPhone to match the MacBook. DropBox syncing is working now! I didn't realize that wifi syncing wouldn't work between the computers and the phone still had 1PW4, which explains why wifi syncing was a dead end on the MacBook.

  • Sounds like you're all set, @LisaPadgett? Please let us know if you have any more questions.
