What is thebest method of obtaining 1password to run on mac (yosemite) iphone & ipad and syncing all 3 devices. it seems that buying direct has some downsides in syncing? as opposed to buying from Apple. I would prefer to buy direct from agilebits. Advice please

You can sync with both Mac versions, but only the one from the Mac App Store can use iCloud. Dropbox, WiFi, and folder sync are available in all versions.

I'm not sure from your post if you know that the OS X and iOS versions are sold separately. The iOS version can be downloaded and used for free in its basic form, but it requires an in-app purchase to activate the advanced Pro features.

Thanks for your help I am on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 and iphone & ipad on IOS 8.1 from what you tell me I think going the direct route with Agilebits site would probably be best as I will not be a "power"user merely trying to save my passwords etc. that I forget from time to time. I have had them stored on "colorpassword" which has been ok until it recently started to play up and refuse to open several times before eventually opening hence my need to upgrade to a better more stable app. and who knows I may well find the other options within 1Pasword something I should take advantage of.

@porkypie100 - I hope you like as much as I do. This forum is a good way to get help if you need it as you get going. Also, the online User Guides are very helpful/ You didn't ask for advice, but I really recommend reading Toward Better Master Passwords too.

Thanks I am about to go for it! I think I will use the apple version as this will give me cloud syncing which currently works well for me over the other devices.
Can I ask what do I do about the old passwords I have set up for sites bank accounts etc. do I have to go through each one and let 1password set new ones? I am sure the info is somewhere on the agilebits site perhaps someone could point me to it Tks!

If your passwords are weak, it would certainly be worth your time to do so.

    Hi @porkypie100,

If you haven't already done so, you'll want to first save Logins for your website accounts in 1Password.

Then, if you need to change a password for one of your website logins, you can follow the steps here: Changing a saved password

I hope that answers your questions, but we're here for you if you need more help!
