Dropbox Sync Questions - Number of Records Varies With Device
I use Dropbox to sync, and can see that it's always updating the 1Password.agilekeychain file. It's used on three Mac computers, an iPhone, and an iPad. However, depending on the device that I'm using, the number of records can vary from about 115 to 180. Some new records show up on a particular device, and some don't. I can't figure out a pattern. How can I get all the records to sync and make sure they stay that way?

Hi @mdreuben,
I'm sorry you're having trouble with Dropbox sync! First please double-check that Dropbox sync is enabled in 1Password on each Mac and iOS device:
On each Mac, open 1Password and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences, then click the Sync tab. Does that show your vault is syncing with Dropbox? If not, follow these steps to set up Dropbox sync.
On each iOS device, open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync. Does it show that the Sync Service is Dropbox? If not, follow these steps to set up Dropbox sync.
If Dropbox sync is already set up on all Macs & iOS devices, but the sync isn't working, follow these steps to make sure each one is syncing with the same keychain file in Dropbox:
On each Mac:
- Open 1Password and go to the menu for 1Password > Preferences
- Click the Sync tab
- Check the file path for the 1Password.agilekeychain file
On each iOS device:
- Open 1Password and go to Settings > Sync > Sync Service
- Check the file path for the 1Password.agilekeychain file (underneath Current Sync Method / Dropbox)
If the problem is that one (or more) is syncing with a different keychain file than the others, you'll need to disable the sync, then set it up again and choose the correct keychain file.
Let us know how it goes and what you find, thanks!

Thanks for the fast reply! I have two of my devices available at the moment, and checked what you just suggested. Both are set up exactly as you described they should be with the same Dropbox file. In the case of the Mac, it's showing 204 items, and on the iPhone it's showing 183. However, i just forced a sync on my iPhone and it indicated a Vault Mismatch and recommended not merging the two. What do I do next?

I too have the problem that when I try to sync from my Macbook to the Keychain some records are missing. 280 entries on my Mac. Only 278 show up when syncing from the keychain on Dropbox to my Iphone, Ipad or another macbook .
Versions are all up to date.
So.. Changes are not pushed through from the Macbook to the Dropbox file. This is what I tried then:
Tried to renew the Keychain on DB bij deactivating sync connections on all devices, Deleting the keychain. (even checked that the directory in DB was empty). Making a new keychain from the macbook with the 280 entries on Dropbox, Reconnecting Sync on my Iphone and Ipads and... Voila. Not more than 278 entries showing up. (And a Sync error, although there was a 100% simliarity between the Dropbox and the local database).
Did the Dropbox keychain really return in its old (278 entries) state, although it was constructed from a MACbook in the new (280 entries) state?0 -
Hi @mdreuben,
It's a bit unusual to see a Vault Mismatch warning if Dropbox is already enabled (it normally appears when setting up Dropbox sync). However, the fact that you're getting that message is a good thing, because it means 1Password is aware that your vault on the iPhone doesn't match the vault in Dropbox (and your Mac). The Vault Mismatch warning can be a bit confusing, but it's just there in case you have multiple vaults in Dropbox, so you don't accidentally merge two completely different vaults together. It sounds like you only sync one vault, so that won't be a problem.
When you see the Vault Mismatch message, tap More Info, then tap Merge These Vaults Anyway. That will update 1Password on your device with the newer data in Dropbox (and vice versa). That should get the sync working again. Let us know how it goes!
Hi @Luuk,
I'm sorry you're also having a problem with Dropbox sync! It sounds like you've already done some good troubleshooting for this. If I understand, you're syncing between two MacBooks, an iPad, and an iPhone. If so, please try this:
- On one MacBook, add a new Secure Note to 1Password and name it Test from MacBook 1
- On the other MacBook, add a new Secure Note to 1Password and name it Test from MacBook 2
- On your iPhone, add a new Secure Note to 1Password and name it Test from iPhone
- On your iPad, add a new Secure Note to 1Password and name it Test from iPad
Let them all sync, then check 1PasswordAnywhere from a web browser on one of your Macs. In 1PasswordAnywhere, which of the new Secure Notes do you see? If one or more is missing, that will probably tell us where the problem is coming from.

That worked, thanks. The Vault Mismatch warning was indeed confusing... it had certainly stopped me from doing the merge until you said it was OK.
