I am finding sometimes that 1Password is using a huge amount of CPU when I don't even have the app open. It does seem to coorespond with spotlight indexing.

Right now on my Dual Core/4 Thread CPU in my MacBook Pro Activity Monitor reports the following entries using almost all of my CPU:

What is going on?

It would be helpful if you would tell us what version of 1P you are using (go to 1P > About 1Password and tell us exactly what it says there) and also your OS X version number.

    Hi @yippy3000,

That's certainly a strange issue! To help us figure out what's causing that to happen, I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Reports from your Mac: https://guides.agilebits.com/1password-mac-kb/5/en/topic/diagnostics-report

Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com

Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox. A short note here once you've sent the Report in will help us to keep an eye out for it.

Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance! :)

So I figured it out I think and your website was a red herring. Turns out it was the spotlight service indexing your website for spotlight web search. Very annoying of Apple to do but not 1Passwords fault.

  • Glad to hear you got it figured out! :)

Please let us know if you have any other questions. We're always happy to help!
