Password requests

Hi all, every time I switch (on my iPad mini) from 1Password to any other app and try to go back to 1Password, I'm asked for my master password again, even though I have set Lock on Exit in Settings to off and the default time set for re-entering the master password is one hour. Can anyone help, please?

Do you have a PIN set or Touch ID enabled?

    Hi @chanq51,

I'll also be interested to know your answer to hawkmoth's question.

If you aren't using either a PIN or Touch ID to unlock your iPhone then when required, it will always be your Master Password that is requested. That bit you quite possibly knew already.

What you might not be aware of is the following. If you use Touch ID or a PIN to unlock your iPhone you can make use of that same security method to unlock 1Password for iOS. That works by storing your Master Password in a secure yet temporary state in the iOS keychain. It's deleted if you reboot the device and it isn't included in any backups. With this you can unlock 1Password for iOS even days later or if you close the app down completely.

If you aren't using one of those and are just relying on the timer, then if 1Password is closed completely, not just sent to the background you will be required to input your Master Password again. That's what it sounds like is happening to me. Either you're closing 1Password for iOS completely or if you have a lot of apps running iOS itself may be shutting 1Password down to reclaim resources.

Do you have a lot of apps in the task manager? (double click of the home button). If you have a lot you could try closing everything and see if 1Password starts behaving again.

    Please keep us informed.
