Login Catch 22 (iTunes Store password prompt)

This never happened before, but this morning my iPhone prompted me to enter my iTunes Store password when attempting to launch any purchased app.. (built in apps worked fine)

Problem is…. guess where the iTunes password lives!

If i wasn’t at home and able to look it up on another device to type in manually I would be out of luck here!
What if traveling?

Should I not be relying on a random/secure iTunes password and change it to something memorable?
Keep a copy of it in there built in Notes app?! < kidding

How to get past this if occurs again?
(forgot to add, I don't have touch ID enabled)

There are a few passwords I remember. One of them is for iTunes/Apple ID.

I'll have to say that I've never experienced what you have, where you must enter your credentials to run any purchased applications. I wonder why you are so "lucky."

And decider is a good way of creating memorable passwords that are reasonably secure. AppleID requires a password that is a touch short for really good security, but it is still fairly good.

I suspect @danco intended to refer to diceware rather than "decider", which looks as though it might have been affected by the curse of auto-correct. :)

That @danco meant Diceware is my guess too - thanks for the correction @Stephen_C!

Auto-correct can be a real hassle, especially if one is being speedy!

This issue commonly occurs after an app download or update was interrupted, keeping the iPhone from fully downloading the latest version of the app, and it is usually easy to solve try this fix

  • Thanks, @4SaleUSA :)
