Syncing passwords from iPhone to 1Password

What do you mean by:
from my iPhone to 1Password
Do you mean from your iPhone to 1P on your Mac? If so you need to buy 1P for OS X, which is a completely separate product from 1P for iOS.
If that's not what you meant by your question please post again and explain more.

Hi @marlene,
Thanks for writing in. Could you elaborate on what you mean here? Do you mean syncing from 1Password on iOS to 1Password for Mac? Or do you mean from iCloud Keychain to 1Password for iOS/Mac? or..?
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Want to sync saved passwords in my iPhone from iCloud keychain to 1Password in my iPad. Did not purchase the 1Password for my MacBook Pro. Need to test the free version in iPad first. What I saw so far is not to my liking. It's too limited and no free space to add personal notes. Will check again a couple more times.

@marlene - I thought I'd just add here that you can try the Mac version of 1Password for free for 30 days. You download that free trial version from the AgileBits Download Page, here. You don't have to use only the iOS version to find out if you like this password manager, if you don't want to. Having the Mac version increases the flexibility of use quite a lot. Your choice, of course, but I wanted to be sure you knew of this option.

Would I need to provide my credit card info before using the Mac version of 1Password for free for 30 days?
No.
Will I be able to input more info using the Mac version than the free version in my iPad? In other words...are there more options in the Mac version?
Yes, the Mac version is currently definitely more versatile and more fully-featured than the iOS version of 1P.

The trial version is fine. But if you decide to purchase, note that iCloud sync is only available if you purchase from Apple's App Store. The version from Agile (paid or trial) does not support iCloud sync, due to restrictions by Apple.

@danco ... I found 1Password in Apple's App store and downloaded the free version for iPad and iPhone just to see what it looks like before making a decision on whether to download the paid version in my Mac. I'm not sure what you're talking about re version from Agile not supporting iCloud sync. Can you clarify?

If you want to use iCloud to sync your 1P data between your Mac and an iOS device you have to buy 1P from the Mac App Store. Following changes made by Apple on the release of OS X Yosemite AgileBits is unable to offer iCloud sync in the version you can buy from the AgileBits store. Both versions support Dropbox or local wifi sync to sync your 1P data between your Mac (on the one hand) and your iOS devices (on the other).

Hi @marlene,
I hope Stephen's answer helped to clear up confusion about iCloud sync! Keep in mind that only affects how you would sync your 1Password data back & forth between your Mac and iPhone. Other than that, both the Mac App Store and web store versions of 1Password 5 for Mac have the same features.
To get back to your original question:
Want to sync saved passwords in my iPhone from iCloud keychain to 1Password in my iPad.
You won't be able to sync data back and forth between iCloud Keychain and 1Password. However, using the Mac version of 1Password, you can import your OS X Keychain data into 1Password with a conversion utility which is explained here: https://discussions.agilebits.com/discussion/30286/mrcs-convert-to-1password-utility/p1
Need to test the free version in iPad first. What I saw so far is not to my liking. It's too limited and no free space to add personal notes.
Actually, there is a "notes" field in each type of item where you can add notes. You can also create Secure Notes for any information that doesn't have a more suitable category. If you need more help with that, please let us know. Thanks!

I checked the AgileBits store and see that now. Thank you, @Stephen_C, for the clarification. Now this brings up another question: With the 1Password from the Mac App store being more versatile than the free version, will I be able to see everything (all data I type in my Mac) in my iPad and iPhone?

For something that supposed to simplify my life, this is a living hell. There is no support. Why do I have to spend half my day writing letters and reading files to make this thing work like you say it will...CAUSE IT WON'T....this isn't what i paid for...help me out of refund my money, my time is valuable and i'm not some tech head who lives to solve these problems...whats a phone # where I can get this done in one shot with out having to wait 11 days for a response... I may as well write a letter you long hand and put a stamp on it for all the good its doing me. Again Help me out in a timely fashion, like TODAY or refund my money. You're not the only game in town

Just thought of another question. If I purchase the 1Password thru the Apple App store, will I be able to download the same version to my iPad and iPhone? (And do I delete the free versions that are currently in iPad and iPhone? I typed only 2 items in the free version. Am I to delete those free versions before downloading the purchase item?)

@davidneesley - I see that your post in this thread is your first here. If you would start a new thread describing the problems you have encountered, I'm sure you will get the help you need in short order. I can assure you that 1Password does, in fact, work as described, but sometimes it takes a little discussion here to get going. These forums are frequented by several AgileBits helpers, as well as some community volunteers, who stand ready to help.

@davidneesley I note that was your very first post. If, instead of posting what you posted, you explained exactly what your problem was (presumably related to sync of 1P data, as that's the thread in which you posted) someone would have helped promptly. As it is it's rather a challenge to do so as we don't have any idea of what problem you have experienced with 1P.
With the 1Password from the Mac App store being more versatile than the free version, will I be able to see everything (all data I type in my Mac) in my iPad and iPhone?
There's no difference in what you'll see—merely in what you can do. If you're not going to need to use iCloud to sync 1P data there's no need to buy from the Mac App Store. It really is as simple as that.
As to your further questions please bear in mind 1P for Mac and 1P for iOS are completely different products. Buying and installing 1P for Mac does not affect in any way 1P for iOS. You'll still need to install that if you want to have your 1P data on your iOS devices as well as on your Mac. 1P for iOS is free to install but you might want to pay to enable to the pro features. You can read about the pro features of 1P for iOS here.

Hi @davidneesley,
I tried searching out ticketing system but found no mention of your email address. If you are currently waiting on support if you could supply the ticket ID we will certainly look into it. At the moment though this single post is all we have to go on.

Hi @marlene,
There does seem to be a level of confusion at the moment.
iOS Devices. There is only one version available to iOS devices, 1Password for iOS. It can only be found in Apple's iTunes Store which is the same as the App Store app on your iOS device. 1Password for iOS is free to download and use. If you wish the additional features that are part of the Pro Features this is a one-off in-app purchase and it's per Apple ID. So a single purchase of the Pro features will cover as many iOS devices as you own.
Macs. There are two ways to purchase 1Password for Mac. There is our store where we sell the Agile Web Store (AWS) version and then there is the Mac App Store (MAS) version sold in Apple's App Store. Yes, Apple have two yet different App Stores. The App Store application on your Mac is the Mac App Store and the App Store app on your iOS device is a portal to the iTunes App Store. These are very different.
Now as of iOS 8 and Yosemite iCloud Support is now restricted to MAS applications. This is an Apple restriction. It is the one real difference between the two applications and the difference is new to 1Password 5. There are other differences but not specifically with the application. As we control our own store (obviously) we can offer a 30 day 1Password trial (available for both Mac and Windows). There isn't a way to do that in Apple's MAS. Apple also don't offer a way to offer previous customers a discount and we can't migrate users from our AWS version to the MAS for the same reason, the functionality doesn't exist.
Our licences are per platform so running 1Password for iOS doesn't entitle you to a licence for Mac or vice versa.
Does this help at all?
