I purchased 1Password from you website, but know I am reading to sync in iCloud I should of purchased it Apple store? I am need to find out how to sync with the one I have since iCloud does not drop down just dropbox and folder due for syncing?

Hi @Steeple,

Unfortunately, iCloud sync is not available in the web store version of 1Password 5 for Mac. Due to the way the new iCloud sync works, it's only available in the Mac App Store version. We have more information about that in our Web store and iCloud FAQ.

If you want to use iCloud sync, you'll need to purchase the Mac App Store version of 1Password 5. If you bought the web site version within the last 30 days, we can refund that purchase. Alternately, you can use Dropbox or Wi-Fi sync:

• Dropbox sync

• Wi-Fi sync

I feel this is not fair to customers that bought on the web expecting to use iCloud. It seems like your getting more money? Is there a way to get a reduced price?

Since the web site states that iCloud will not function, why would customers expect to use it?

Those that ordered in error can get a refund from the web store if requested within 30 days of the purchase.

Apple provides no way to give discounts on prices, so even if Agileabits were inclined to make special arrangements, there is no way for them to do so. Taking away the option to use iCloud for syncing was a decision Apple made with the release of Yosemite. AgileBits doesn't like it anymore than you do.

It's certainly not our intention to get more money here. We feel extremely bad about it, and hate the whole situation. This was not a decision on our part. The old MobileDocuments sync we used to use is effectively dead as of 10.10, and from now on there's a technical limitation stating that everything iCloud has to go through an app that was purchased through the App Store. When we try to connect to iCloud from our webstore app it responds saying it's unavailable.

We're incredibly sorry that you have had to go through this. We're going to do our best to make sure that we don't let something like this happen again. Unfortunately there's no way for us to give discounts on the Mac App Store version of the app for individual users. One of the many features we'd love for Apple to add to the Mac App Store.
