Intermittent problems when using iOS Copy functionality from Secure Notes
When trying to copy data from a secure note on my iPad using the 'built-in' iOS copy method (selecting text on the screen and the pressing copy) I intermittently have the following problems:
1. Sometimes I am not able to select text at all, no matter what I do.
2. Sometimes I am able to select text, but pressing Copy does not do anything (and remains visible on the screen), unless I move one of the selection points (begin or end) to a different position.
3. Especially on the first line of a note, when I manage to select a piece of text at the beginning of the line, the blue circle marking the beginning of the selected text is not shown.

Hi @epposan ,
I have a few questions:
- Does this happen for all notes or just some?
- If just some, is there anything specific about the notes? (i.e. they're all longer than the screen, shorter? etc.)
- If you edit the note, does copying work there?
- Are you using version 5.2.1 of 1Password?
Those answers should help us determine what is going on?

Hi @Hayesk,
Answers to your questions:
1. It happens to all notes
2. All (test)notes are short (less than 20 chars, max 2 lines)
3. It happens both in edit and non-edit mode
4. I am using version 5.2.1A repeatable sequence for one of the issues:
1. create a note containing one word only, e.g. 'onewordnote'
2. in non-edit mode, double tap on the word
3. the word is marked in blue, but only the ending blue circle is visible
4. (on my system) a 'copy | define | speak...' bubble shows up
5. tapping the copy field of the bubble has no effect, the bubble remains
6. the bubble remains, even if I tap the edit button (or anything else)
7. only selecting another note removes the bubble.I hope it is repeatable on your side.

So far, we haven't been able to repeat it, but I'm curious when you said you have a Speak item. I turned speech on and could not reproduce it, but are there any other accessibility features of the phone you have turned on that may affect this? (e.g. Assistive Touch)
Also, does this happen in other fields? e.g. can you copy an item title?

The only accessibility functions I have enabled are: 'Speech | Speak Selection' and 'Bold Text'
If I single tap on the blue 'notes' label of one of the secure notes, the whole notes area is highlighted (grey) and a bubble with the text 'Copy' pops up (no other options). Tapping the 'Copy' bubble makes the bubble disappear and the complete contents of the note are copied to the clipboard.
Note: in order to select the 'onewordnote' of my repeatable sequence, I double tap the text 'onewordnote' only once to select the whole word, bringing up the 'Copy | Define | Speak' bubble that I cannot activate. If after that I adjust the selection (even if I end up with the whole word selected) then the 'Copy' works.
I just noticed that the issue is not limited to 1Password: I am using an app called 'Paperless' to keep track of many things and the app has an option to make a note 'read only'. If I make the note 'read only' I get a similar behavior ...****

I just noticed in your reply that you mention 'other accessibility features of the phone', so I tried the same thing on my phone and guess what: there it works. The issue only occurs on my **tablet ** (ipad 2). On the phone I don't have the above mentioned accessibility options set, so you may have a point there. I did turn on 'Speech | Speak Selection' and all was still fine. The other setting (Bold Text) takes a reboot of the phone, which I have to postpone until tomorrow.

Disabling the 'Bold Text' option did not solve the issue on my iPad.

Hi @epposan,
Just to clarify: if you have the exact same options enabled on the iPhone and the iPad, the same behavior is not shown?
So, this appears to be an iPad-exclusive issue? Please let me know if I've got that right. If so I'll try enabling Speak Selection and Bold Text on my iPad and see if I can reproduce it there.
Thanks!
Ben

Hi @epposan,
I tried to replicate your findings on my iPad mini 2 but I couldn't. I tried with those two accessibility options and made sure to test both portrait and landscape mode on the possibility that it mattered.
I see you're using 1Password 5.2.1 for iOS which requires iOS 8 but I don't think you've specified yet exactly what version of iOS you're running. It might be worth checking to see if your iPad is up-to-date.

I am running 8.1.3 currently, both on iPad and iPhone.

Upgrading to 8.2 and disabling both accessibility options did not make any difference. For the record: I am running the app on an iPad 2.

Hi @epposan,
Thanks for providing those details! It's always difficult when we are unable to reproduce the trouble on our end, as we can't really see where things are getting tangled up. So I'd like to take a closer look at your system.
I'd like to ask you to create a Diagnostics Report from your iOS device:
https://guides.agilebits.com/kb/1password4/en/topic/diagnostics-report#ios4Then attach the entire file to an email to us: support+forum@agilebits.com
Please do not post your Diagnostics Report in the forums, but please do include a link to this thread in your email, along with your forum handle so that we can "connect the dots" when we see your Diagnostics Report in our inbox.
You should receive an automated reply from our BitBot assistant with a Support ID number. Please post that number here so we can quickly track down the Report and ensure that it is dealt with quickly. :)
Once we see the report we should be able to better assist you. Thanks in advance!
