Unable to sync existing vault

Lost all my data on my iPad IOS 8.2. Reinstalled 1Password 5.2.1 and trying to sync existing vault on Dropbox.
Vault is located in Dropbox Apps/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain__. "Operation couldn't be completed. (Dropbox.com error 404) 1Password encountered a problem".__
I have a Windows desktop but never installed 1Password on it. The iPad was my only working platform for 1Password. Never got my iPhone 4S to work properly.
Even going directly to Dropbox and can't open the .html file.
Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @bebet1,

I apologise for the delay in responding.

Can I just confirm the name of the 1Password.agilekeychain please as in your post you typed 1Password.agilekeychain__. and that shouldn't be how it is named.

So I have one question at the moment. How does the internal structure of this .agilekeychain look compared to the image below?

This is what you should see at a minimum. There should be data/default/ folders and in there 1Password.keys, contents.js and encryptionKeys.js along with a number of files ending in .1password. If these files don't exist it sounds like something isn't right at all. We can recreate a 1Password.html as that's a static file but if the others don't exist then we're in trouble.

If we assume something went wrong recently it might be worth checking the Events tab, viewable if you log into your account via https://www.dropbox.com/ You can filter the log to the Apps, or possibly the Apps/1Password folder

Let us know what you find. If you don't feel comfortable reporting back on the innards of your 1Password.agilekeychain we can take this to email.

My mistake in typing, the vault is located in Dropbox Apps/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain.

    The internal structure in Dropbox:
    1Password.html
    data
    default
    1password.keys
    .1password.keys
    .password.hint
    encryptionKeys.js

I don't see see a log to filter much less a filter.

So that is all I can see on my iPad.

Thanks for your assistance. Look forward to a response. :)

  • Hmm. On initial glance it does appear we may be missing some files (.1password files). You can find the log on Dropbox here:

This is what I found in the log events that pertains to 1Password:

@bebet1: I'm sorry for the trouble. It sounds like we might not be on the same page. Are you attempting to access your 1Password data through the 1Password app or the Dropbox app?

My mistake in typing, the vault is located in Dropbox Apps/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain.

    The internal structure in Dropbox:
    1Password.html
    data
    default
    1password.keys
    .1password.keys
    .password.hint
    encryptionKeys.js

This is the root of your 1Password.agilekeychain. It seems like some folders got moved around there at some point. The default folder should be inside the data folder. If you look inside the default folder, this is where you should see *.1password files. Check that for me.

Once we verify that those *.1password files are there, in the default folder, you'll need to put the default folder back inside the data folder. Then when you open the 1Password app and try to sync, it should be able to recognize it. I hope this helps. Let me know what you find! :)

Since I lost 1Password on my iPad earlier this week, I reinstalled 1Password and was trying to restore my data from Dropbox. Dropbox has the following path: Dropbox/Apps/1Password/1Password.agilekeychain/data/default

Inside the default folder there are the four files:
    1password.keys
    .1password.keys
    .password.hint
    encryptionKeys.js

    FYI:
Inside the the 1Password.agilekeychain folder there is 1Password.html which is labeled as "code". If all else failed I was hoping I could at least print or view this information. But when I go to open that in 1Password Anywhere I get the following message:

Perhaps I should install an earlier version of 1Password? I can't remember the version I was last using.

@bebet1: Unfortunately that will not work. A different version of 1Password will still need to have these, because that's your actual data.

Those four files are only a small part of your 1Password.agilekeychain. You seem to be missing the .1password files, which are the actual items you have saved (logins, secure notes, etc.) in 1Password. Without those, all you have are the files you unlock with your Master Password, which in turn are used to decrypt your 1Password data.

Additionally, the 1password.html file you found is 1PasswordAnywhere, a web interface to 1Password which was useful with older browsers. However, it too needs to have a complete 1Password.agilekeychain to work properly, even in a supported browser.

If you do not have a complete backup of your 1Password data, you will, unfortunately, need to start over. I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you. :(
